Popular Post smudge ★ Posted December 27, 2015 Popular Post Share #1 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) The sun was actually shining, so I went for a fat bike ride on Christmas day. The Days River Trail is in the woods, and the back section is in a swamp. Even on a sunny day it can be quite gloomy back there, so I was glad to finally have a noncloudy day to enjoy the trail. In fact, it was ridiculously green back in the swamp for December 25 in the Yoop! Off to the right of this pic is the river. We've had quite a bit of rain, so it was flowing quite nicely with nice gurgling/flowing river noises. It probably should be froze over by now, but I was enjoying this version! I was really glad I was biking and not trying to cross country ski. Last time we had an el Nino, HOsmudge and I were snowmobilers. I'm glad I'm a fat biker now. Snow, sand, rocks, grass... it all works for me now! I haven't ridden on this trail for some time, but I still wanted to do the whole 8 1/2 miles. It doesn't sound like much at that mileage, but it's a LOT of straight down and straight up. I walked a few more hills than usual, but I don't care. it was fun. We had big winds here (no tornadoes, thank God), so there were a few trees down. I moved a few, but some were too big even for me. Pretty crazy that I'm still riding sand and green swamps and DH is skiing in nice powder! Ah well; we're gettin' out there and having fun!!! Those of you in the snow belt will laugh at us tuesday when we have our first 1" snowfall (with potential ice) I expect dozens of accidents as is usual for the first storm of the year.
