Road Runner Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2016 I rode 25.3 miles @ 16.8 avg on the 10 spd in stifling heat. Heat index around 105, according to my weather guy. 2,320 miles for the year. For the less important stuff, I also walked 3.2 miles.
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted August 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2016 I rode with one of my friends, about the same distance and pace as RR. I also discussed with an electrical contractor how he should store a substation and a generator because the frogs had halted the installation.

You just need to get your cadence up to 180. No miles but I made turkey burgers for dinner and watched a movie with the kids.

I went to the steepest hill near me, probably 12%. It wasn't hard at all. This weekend I will drive to a longer hill and practice going slow. It's harder than I thought. The hill I will go to over the weekend isn't as steep, but it's a lot longer. It will be hard to go slow because it will be too easy, but I need to practice that before next Saturday. That is not my goal, I need to make sure I can ride between 3 and 4 mph, regardless of how easy it is this weekend. Next weekend will be more challenging with a steady climb. I don't have anything near me that is 12% for miles, just one that is probably 12%, but only a third of a mile.
Zephyr Posted August 12, 2016 Share #18 Posted August 12, 2016 I did 18 miles, at 17mph. Had to cut it short because company was coming for supper and WofZeph was out paintballing with friends so I had to get home and prep. I was on leave for a couple weeks and this is only day three back on the bike. It is like starting over, but I did buy my first ever actual gps type bike computer as a motivator
Rattlecan ★ Posted August 12, 2016 Share #19 Posted August 12, 2016 I went out for my ride at 10 pm, and it was still hot and steamy. Rode about 10 miles with a stopover in the park by the lake. There were young couples lining the wall, smooching in the dark, but they didn't seem to let the old fart on a brilliantly lit bike, wearing a high vis vest bother them at all. Find a 5% grade, tie 3 cinder blocks to the bike, drag them up the hill behind you. Oh, and post the video here please.
