  2. I happened to check the website for my Doctor's practice and saw that they had opened their annual walk in flu shot clinic. That made me feel very autumnal. I was going to wait a little longer, but then I realized I was going to be busy at work the next few weeks. That made me feel a little anxious. So I decided to change quickly and drive down to the office while I wasn't that busy. That made me feel productive. I went to the garage and saw golf balls everywhere! I live near a golf course and often end up with golf balls in the yard. I try to give them back to the golfers if they're around. That makes me feel magnanimous. The others I collect and plan to give to a neighbor who likes to give them to her golfing friends. This makes me feel neighborly. But the bag with the golf balls fell over and their were golf balls everywhere. This made me feel annoyed and delayed at first, but then I laughed and felt sort of like Captain Kangaroo. There was no line at the clinic which made me feel very speedy and productive. Then I drove home and realized I had been wearing two sneakers that didn't match. The End

  4. Gravel ride in Loudoun County. Purcellville VA. I was planning on a 33 mile loop but missed a turn or something so turned around and rode back. 15 miles, one hour. The building is the Ketoctin Baptist Church. Established in 1751, the building shown was built in the 1854 (pre Civil War). Spelling must have changed over the years as most places share the Catoctin spelling. Found a nice gravel road and followed that several miles but never saw the turn shown on my cue sheet. Turned around and went to Bellylove brewing in Purcellville for a beer. Flying Unicorn Crotch Kick IPA. Very good, around 8.5%, so just one today.

  5. Well ain;t that a kick in the crotch, by a unicorn no less. 20 for me. I finally realised that it makes sense to check the wind direction and then start out in the direction that the wind is coming from so I can return on a tailwind - woo-ha! I also walked around 2.5 today with the dog, so I had a peachy day today.

  15. iIRC it has more to do with then Coreolis effect. I think if you lived on the Eastern edge of the Atlantic you may feel different. Just as if you lived in Japan or one of the countries on the western edge of the Pacific. In the Northern Hemisphere countries on the western edge of oceans get hammered more than countries in the eastern edge.

  16. Well..1.5 miles to the top of the falls..doesnt include the 3 trips down 2 85 steps stairways and one with 200 steps..(lots is stairs on the trail as well)..probably 1 mile to and from the car to the trailhead..and 2+ walking back on the campground road..instead of back tracking on the trail.

  18. 24 miles with the missus. We hugged the coast for the cleanest air which was better but advisories indicated people with respiratory issues stay indoors (The past few days they didn’t recommend any outdoor activity). I think we should have skipped though as I have been coughing a lot since being home.

  29. Having grown up in the ocean I tend to agree. The ocean is more than a dick, it’s a killer. Never underestimate its power and ability to quickly kill you. Never turn your back to it as it will bitch slap you in an instant.

  31. I say to hubby “yay, packages!” he says ... “We are not expecting anything.” The driver gets out and yup....looks like we are getting a package. with great anticipation, I ripped it open. I didn’t even look at the return addy. It was an amazing gift from the lovely man that we all adore. JSHARR! He sent me coffee. I am so super excited. I am ashamed to say that we usually buy cheap coffee. Well, not Folgers, but lower quality. Like, Gervalia, and other decent grounds that are on sale. so this is a huge treat. Yay @jsharr Thank you 🙏

  32. I thought he was asking us how much we keep in the household safe! Can't trust a guy who has your address and knows how much dough you have sitting around. I imagine his next "innocent" topic will be about guns you keep around the house.

  36. Even my husband likes it. We watched half of it last night. He is going to finish watching it tonight. I am interested to see what he thinks of the end. I can't say more, or to ruin for others here that may watch it. We did see a little octopus in Grenada. I was surprised how small it was. I tried to watch it longer, but it disappeared.

  37. She lives alone. She has worked hard her whole life. She pretty much raised me without my Father around. I wish she would empower herself more as the woman she is. She is powerful. Why doesn't she stand up to the patriarchy in her church. Maybe she could make great changes in this world. Although, she did move back home with her parent. So I was raised by her, and Grandma and Grandpa. Maybe you are correct about fear.

  39. 100% on me. I remember one crash.. way back in the early 70s I rode a lot with my best friend. Jim was drafting me, we were just starting to climb a small hill. I down shifted, friction shifting (not index shifting) and I missed the shift a bit and the chain slipped on the cog. I didn't let up pedaling much, so when the pedals slipped I must have (still not sure) somehow pushed myself up and over the handlebar. It all happened very fast. And then my buddy had no chance at all... he ran over me. A guy in a car stopped and asked if we were OK. We were fine. Our bikes were OK. And then the guy starts laughing a LOT. Apparently we made his day... Then there was the time WoBG and I used our mountain bikes on a single track ride near a lake north of Bloomington IL. I had a few epic crashes. I'm surprised I didn't break anything.

  40. I was on the North Shore of Lake Superior..hiked to Shovel Point at Tettegouche and visited Palisade Head on Thursday, Oberg Mtn and lake shore hiking on Friday, Temperance on Saturday and back to Tettegouche today..Did not get to Cascade or Judge C.R.Magney..they both have great hikes as well.. Think of the awesome bike and hike trip from the Canadian Border..to Two Harbors..or even Duluth..or WTF all the way to MPLS..although the best hikes would end at Jay Cooke, just west and south of Duluth.

  45. Helen Hunt, raving bitch.... She was one of the most despised people on the lot. Fortunately I didn’t have to deal with her as she was at Culver Lot and I was at SPE but my team at Culver filled me in on her antics. When Mad About You was up for an Emmy they weren’t sure what would be worse, winner Helen raving bitch or loser Helen raving bitch.
