  1. It's New Sock Day!! Amazon delivered even before their promised delivery date. And after close examination, I must say the socks look nice and cushiony. Not high quality hiking socks, but good working from the living room socks.

  3. Rode by this BMX park near my house and was tripping on this kid, probably 6 YO getting big air. The kid is about 10’ in the air in this shot. Kids with no fear, love it!

  4. Well, as I said, the only way I know where the train will go, is when I'm sleeping on the tracks. WoHB went in for her first chemo appointment Monday. She had been listless and without energy all weekend, but she hasn't been feeling well for several weeks now, and between that and the 48 hour knowledge of having to put Gretel to sleep, it didn't seem unusual, and she was able to get in and out of the car by herself, though she wanted a wheelchair. They only let one of us in for the chemo education (COVID, gee thanks) so I stayed outside and listened via my cell while MomOHB (retired nurse) went in. When this was done, there wasn't much left for me there -I went and got lunch and prepped to bring Gretel to the vet. They took blood before the start of chemo -levels were all over the place crazy. Rather than doing chemo, they took her straight to the ER. I wasn't there, but we now know that while she was in the ER, she went into septic shock, and they pumped her full of fluids. If she had been scheduled for chemo Tuesday or later, it's really likely she wouldn't be here; the cancer pavilion is fortunately just across the street from the hospital ER. They admitted her to the hospital, and found a blood clot in her lung, and the blood tests the next morning came back with sepsis (blood infection). Infectious Disease specialist immediately entered the picture and began giving strong IV antibiotics, as well as heparin and a painkiller/antinausea med. We really didn't know how close she came until tonight. She came close even in the ER. The antibiotics are helping. Her white blood cell count has gone down 25% since on them (it was climbing the walls) indicating the infection is losing the battle to the meds. They stopped the blood thinners temporarily to remove fluid from her abdomen this evening and aspirated five liters (11lbs) of fluid built up there. This will likely provide some relief, but right now, her body is cramping going "I didn't *like* this...but I was used to it being there..". Chemo was put on pause until we beat all this. I'm sure she's here at least through Friday. Only two of us are allowed in for the duration (again COVID), so myself and my mother spell each other. My work has been a peach about this, God bless them. Please pray she can get sleep, that the infection continues to go down, and that the heparin busts the clot. Once that's done, we need to find the best option for chemo that won't take everything she has left.

  5. Gretel is gone. I cradled her in my arms as she left. I hate like hell that she's gone; but she isn't suffering. It was the right thing.

  25. A Buffalo city cop said this to an acting member of NY State Supreme Court. Pretty good insult in my opinion. The judge, Mark Grisanti and his wife were having a loud discussion with neighbors over a parking spot. Cops were called. The judge became belligerent when his wife was handcuffed and began name dropping the mayor’s name, other cops he knew and so on. He wound up getting cuffed and taken downtown also. They were released later that day without charges. I wonder if he name dropped @BuffJim. Good insult by the cop though

  31. I make an easy one pot jambalaya. Start with some olive oil in the pot and add the holy trinity (onion, celery and bell pepper). Add salt and pepper and sauté until the onions start to get translucent. Time to add the meat. Andouille sausage is a must. You can cube up some chicken and add it at this point if you like. Stir in one can of diced tomatoes. I like to use Rotel because it has green chilis already in it. It adds another layer of flavor. Add chicken stock and Cajun seasoning then cover it and let it simmer until the chicken is cooked. Add in shrimp and simmer for another 15 minutes. I also add precooked rice at this point. If you're going to use uncooked rice, add more liquid and hood out the shrimp until the rice is cooked.

  33. I should have taken a picture of my wife when I came in the house before I hooked up the generator. I forgot about her bed being all electric. She had the head of the bed up because she was watching TV. She had her feet elevated to keep her from sliding down in bed. When the power went out the compressor that keeps the mattress inflated quit, her butt sunk down to the bed frame and she looked quite stuck.

  35. We have three other cats. With WoHB in her current condition, we'll likely stay with three. I should catch everyone up. Two of the others, some people may recall from the past. Yoshi the Big Siamese is another who "just loves me" and always has. Old picture, his fur is somewhat longer now, but in spite of irritable bowel disease, a loving, wonderful guy. Jack the Ginormous, who is WoHB's baby. Twenty pounds and afraid of his own shadow. Not the brightest boi either, but a lover of belly rubs, and a softie. Two years ago we lost Watson, whom we both dearly loved, due to kidney disease. He loved every human in the universe (they were all potential friends to him). Shortly before that, our shelter chanced to gain (by chance) a purebred British Shorthair; I had always wanted one. Meet Luna, aka JudgyCat. Not as affectionate, but a complete clown with resting grumpy face who is basically a food pit with paws. She has brought much levity and diva-tude to the house.
