  1. Last Thursday I stopped at McDonald's for an egg McMuffin. Innocent enough I thought. Big sign at drive-thru for frozen Cokes, any size for 1.69. Worth a gamble I thought. Hoping to find the equivalent of the old fashioned ICEE. It was very close and delicious. 8 days later I'm on my 24th frozen Coke. This morning I decided to celebrate the weekend by getting 2 egg McMuffins and two frozen Cokes. 1 for the 5 minute drive home and 1 for the McMuffins. They inform me at the window the frozen Coke machine is cycling and it's a fifteen minute wait. I'm processing this when she sa

  2. The siding should be done by Monday. Supposedly sheetrock next week, DH. The color of the shingles ("Georgetown Gray") and siding ("Oxford Blue") look like the stuff we picked out, not the online-version where the shingles were dark and the siding was almost totally gray. I like the windows now that they're on the house. Fake white shutters will go on either side of the front windows and white trim in places. Here's the front door - I didn't want to interrupt the workers to get a better picture - I'll do that next week.

  3. Born to fly, trained to kill & stay alive. That chant sounded bad ass when 200 privates in an MP company sounded off. The light pole post got me reminiscing about boot camp. This is my PT T shirt. The hoodie I bled all over & wrote light pole on the back was exactly the same color & design.

  8. So we ended with doing a last minute vote on building insurance at my condo..poor planning..but we need insurance as on May 1. Hopefully, we have corrected that issue..in the mean time..a split vote. The management suggested if a second vote didn't break the tie..we stay with the policy that maintains our present deductible..1 board member said he wasnt happy but OhWell..When we were tie again, I think he complained again..we were told our other option was coin flip..so at 2:15 yesterday I asked folks to meet in the party room at 6pm and we would do a coin toss..3 of us showed up (both si

  13. That’s awesome! Yeah that would be me for sure! One of my sisters has horse property and when my daughter was little rescued a carnival pony. Well we would put my daughter on it and the pony would head right for a tree & scrape her off it’s back! That pony wasn’t giving another ride no way no how...

  19. You would have cared, and asked yourself like I did, Hey wait, what about Sham?, the beautiful horse that was second to Secretariat in all those great races. Did he live a happy life filled with Phillies and family? But no, you couldn't be bothered with Secretariat much less the handsome horse that has the second fastest time ever at the Kentucky Derby. You're disgusting.

  29. Nostalgia is like a rocking chair with a cozy blanket. It's surely comfortable and soothing; a relaxing and reassuring place. I suggest, as comfortable as the rocking chair is, it's difficult to create anything while seated in a rocking chair. So one has to make the effort to stand up, set the blanket aside, and do something to make a difference, to fix something, to help someone, to learn, to start an adventure... For if one doesn't, how can a person - in the very least - create new memories to be nostalgic about in the future?

  33. That's true. You can humiliate people in certain circumstances even though you care about them and just want to help. For example I have a cousin who, a few years ago, was suffering terrible toothaches for months: she had previously taken a medication for a different issue known to make jawbones weak and the dentist wouldn't do the oral surgery needed without some X-rays and other tests my cousin couldn't afford - she's one of those "cash only" people who doesn't use a credit card (we tell her that's insanity) and never goes into debt. Nevertheless, she refused help from other frien

  35. To me nostalgia is like a bank of good memories that you can draw on during a difficult time. Sure, it can make you a little sad those things aren't current, but it's nice to have experienced them in the first place.

  37. And to a slightly less extent, Kirby. Aire should have been my best Secretariat greatest of all-time supporter. Airedales are like the thoroughbreds of the canine world. A grape pie isn't going to save you but it would be an excellent start.
