Every time and I mean every time I ride up GMR, I think of the guy. Really nice humble timid guy, reminded me of an altar boy.  Much different than his personality on the forums. 

It was back in about 2004 when we were racing each other up GMR to the village. I remember it being really really foggy up at about 4,000 ft and not being able to see around the next switchback. We were doing training rides for a timed event called Ride Around the Bear, 100 miles 10,000 ft gain.

Every time I ride up, I think of the guy, nice guy!

I've lost several cycling friends over the years but mostly trail riders. Webby was the one guy who climbed GMR several times on forum rides.

 

I am just curios as I see the names on this forum of other lost members. So it makes me think about Webby as well. Not sure if he ever posted here.

May 7, 2009 was the end of his life. Not sure when this forum was started.

His obit is still available with a quick search, I was surprised.

I’d guess he passed away in 2007 or 2008.  Or 2009.

Thanks, I was thinking car accident. I remember us talking and hoping it wasn't intentional. IIRC he was having custody issues or some such thing? It was sad.

My main ride still bears 100th Anniversary TdF Look A5.1 pedals I got from him.

Release tension is still hella stiff years later, to prevent unclipping during racing; it makes entry stiff too. I keep looking at getting pedals (not that I ride often any more, but when I do) that are easier in and out. But I haven't; and that's honestly the one reason.

Webbie was fun to talk to on the lf.  Only webbie would mix bleach and ammonia.
