Bummer. ;)

We're thinking a 65" once the dust settles in the kitchen.

We had a 60 in this room.  Wife said we can't go smaller.  Old one was a console style projector.  It sat out from the wall about 2 feet on a stand.  This new one will be mounted over the faarplace.  It will be slightly further away so it has to be bigger to remain the same viewing size?  Right?

Yep and you have to take into account the new ones all have thinner frames around the edges, so you have to go bigger just to make sure it doesn't look smaller.

Do you still use the fire place and how hot will it get above it?

Not often.  If we do it is really just ambience.  We just burn the fake logs in it.  Don't use it to heat the room.

Ours is above our gas fireplace that we use somewhat frequently in the winter. It has not been a problem for the 7 year old TV.

Even a TV-illiterate like me knows better....unless you’re Shaq. Eye level.

I have ours tilted downward, and it works fine for us. Besides, there's really nowhere else to put it.
