I have a tradition of no beer for Lent. I'm not very religious, but my wife is, it makes her happy and my liver appreciates it. Well.... Cheers, Here's Lookin at Ya, May the Wind be at Your Back.10 points

My 20 minute watts are 190, low I know, but don't forget, I am old (52) and relatively new to the riding / exercising game. I last tested about 2 months ago, I think I've gone up since. I could hold the 190 for an hour. The Mt. Washington ride was a whole different story. I was typically over 200 and kept thinking I'm not a 200+ guy. That took me over 2 hours. I am working really hard this year. Each day I am running or riding, and 3 days a week I am doing crossfit. I have ambitious goals for this year and plan to meet them.5 points

On the way home tonight I was wondering - radio towers and tall buildings have red blinking lights on them to warn aircraft. Wind turbines stand about 200 feet off the ground so I imagine they'd have the red flashing lights on the tower as well, especially when sited on top of a ridge. But the blades add about another 100 feet more. A plane flying too low into the blades of wind turbine farm would come out like it went through a Ninja juice machine. Shouldn't the blades have a red blinking light on the blade tip too? Imagine how a wind turbine farm would look at night with all those red blinking lights going around. We need a law to make this happen. To keep the airplanes safe, I mean.4 points

I think you might have to, then, be the Major Dr. Airehead and Her Majesty Dr. Airehead, just to make sure everyone knows who the real Boss is.3 points

When I arrived home this evening I took a picture with the so-called camera on my flip phone. Since a long range selfie was impossible, I set my helmet on the seat to get those blinkie lights in the picture too. The one light on the rack nearly drowns out the smaller LED's on the garment bag, handlebar ends, and the helmet. Mostly I wanted to get an idea of what a driver behind me might see.3 points

This explains the skyrocketing sales of hard liquor in your town during Lent, then.3 points

Obviously she will need a pink or lavender bike for the first few years ...with streamers I believe @Parr8hed fashioned a bike seat for a dolly on the back of one of Emmy's early bikes3 points

I think Lyra Michelle Goldendesign is a beautiful name! And I think it's amazing how much she grew just between the second and third pictures! You and your wife truly have a miracle, and please accept my most sincere best wishes and congratulations!3 points

I was super excited that she joined. The hapiness was short lived. She has quit. She says she hurt herself there. I saw her doing much more than my easier onramp stuff. She lasted about 5 days. She has a shoulder problem. I have a shoulder problem. On several occasions I told my trainer, nope...that isn't going to happen like that... I am not sure if she practiced the same self preservation tactics. She used to be a body builder. Maybe she pushed too hard too fast. I am kinda bummed, but I will still do my thing.2 points

I would look for something rubbing or scraping on the rollers as a source for the dust. It's only on one corner of one roller, so that means there's a condition there that isn't happening at all the other roller attachment points. If you have a resistance unit and a drive belt attached, then the belt could be creating that dust. If that's the case you may want to flip the roller end for end to create equal wear at the groove where the drive belt attaches. As a side note, the drive belt for the resistance unit that came with my rollers was shredding (compound too soft) and wearing the rollers (poor fit). I went to Walmart and found a rubber drive belt for a vacuum cleaner about the same size for a few bucks and the problem went away. I get on the rollers by riding my bike down the length of the room, and went I get next to the rollers I do a sideways bunny hop so I get a running spinning start. Actually, that's a lie. I use the siderail technique you describe, although I suspect my process is considerably less graceful than what most people might imagine from your description. But it works for me as your step stool works for you. I tip my hat to SW. I can't ride no-hands on the road, let alone on the rollers! If I'm going to ride the rollers for a while or if I'm not doing a 'Spinervals' session, I'll put on a DVD for distraction.2 points

That makes me sad. Not too many of those cars remain. To trash one for no reason sucks. They could have done the jump with a controlled landing.2 points

Well I'd suggest she clean up before laying flat in the crap. I'm kind of a neat freak that way, you know.2 points

Well I clicked on it and didn't get any additional GBs. On another note, my internet connection has slowed to a crawl and friends are getting SPAM from my account. Thanks.2 points

Drinking is not an all or nothing event. I go months with nothing then may go a week where I have wine or beer every other day or so. Moderation is key.2 points

Wife just hit 21 weeks and started preggers yoga and loves it. We've selected the menu and venue for baby shower as well as the date, May 6th. My twin is handling the invitations and expects them to be put in mail beginning next week. Trying to finish the baby registry up but a few things we want to physically put hands on before we decide to place it. Baby room is pretty much done except for the stuff on registry. Hoping wife changes her mind on me painting it soon.2 points

I took a chance and went for a 12 mile loop around the neighborhood. Colder than I expected, should have worn my winter bibs instead of shorts. Lots of wind, I met another cyclist who lives within five miles of me. Made it home without getting wet.2 points

Agreed. I will sometimes drink one beer, or bunches if it is a social thing. I have been averaging about two beers a week these days because I am not hanging out with big drinkers. I might drink a bunch if someone comes to NYC, though. That said, and not picking on anyone in particular, lots of people focus on the negative overmuch in regards to alcohol, and it is a bit of a drag. Beer is good, wine is good, cocktails are good. Everything can be bad when you overdo it if you overdo the overdoing part.1 point

A more correct question for me would be "Who will you be doing for Lent?" I wonder what @Goat Geddah is up to.....1 point
