Dirtyhip Posted December 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2013 Pretty decent crash today. His cleat was rotating on the bottom of his foot and he couldn't unclip. BAM! Top tube all scratched up now. A scratched bike is a well used bike, but it still hurts to see that first major scratch.

questrider Posted December 5, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 5, 2013 See, I knew you should've sent me the bike when I offered, it would still be pretty. That's only because you don't ride. Scratches are badges of honor.

KrAzY Posted December 5, 2013 Share #14 Posted December 5, 2013 He told me that he was going to slap a sticker over the scratch. I have not seen it yet. He told me it's pretty bad. Why doesn't he just cover it with nail polish? thats just as bad as a sticker, and least makes it look nicer. I say keep the scratch, and show it with pride! Square Wheels Posted December 5, 2013 Share #15 Posted December 5, 2013 Is it carbon fiber? It might explode the next time he rides it. How serious is the scratch?

Dirtyhip Posted December 5, 2013 Author Share #18 Posted December 5, 2013 The bike is aluminum. He put some frame paint on it last night. I came home and the bike is in the house laying in front of the heater, drying. The scratch is pretty severe. The paint on that bike is quite thick, and he scratched it all the way down to the frame. Dirtyhip Posted December 5, 2013 Author Share #22 Posted December 5, 2013 He was riding on a MTB trail, and he got caught up in a rock garden He went to unclip and his cleat was loose. He fell on top of a rock and the bike got raked on the rock as he struggled to unclip. He told me that he tried to hold the bike up off the rock, but he was on a downhill part of a trail. he must have been quite a sight as he struggled on the group. This will teach him to check his cleats more often.
Longjohn ★ Posted December 5, 2013 Share #23 Posted December 5, 2013 Just cover up the scratch with some walmart smiley stickers. I had a cleat come loose like that during an indoor triathlon. I left my cycling shoe on the bike for someone to work on and put on my running shoes and headed for the dreadmill. Took first place in my age group.
