Square Wheels Posted October 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2018 Even though there is theoretically a 50% chance of putting it in correctly, I seem to be far below those odds. I just figured out that the little USB logo on the cable goes up.

TrentonMakes Posted October 16, 2018 Share #3 Posted October 16, 2018 I think I posted a similar topic once. Since then I don't believe my odds have increased significantly. If I somehow manage to get it right on the first try, it seems noteworthy.

Ralphie ★ Posted October 16, 2018 Share #6 Posted October 16, 2018 What I find amazing is that you CAN plug a USB cable into a network port, and even more amazing is that it fries neither the USB device nor the network port. At least it didn't on one occasion.
Ralphie ★ Posted October 16, 2018 Share #7 Posted October 16, 2018 Back in the days of RS232 serial connections, they always said never waste time trying to figure out whether to swap pins 2 or 3 for send and receive, just try it one way and then the other if the first didn;t work. Razors Edge ★ Posted October 16, 2018 Share #13 Posted October 16, 2018 On the old SB, if you see the blue, then it is upside down. But that may only be USB 2 (or 3?) cables? Graphic below shows it is USB 3 Some of my computers have a USB 2 port, and a USB 3 port next to each other. And now I have the C on my newer laptops. Jeebus - constant change. It is dopey that it wasn't better done, but we are learning (as all the USB C love shows). Tom

MickinMD ★ Posted October 17, 2018 Share #20 Posted October 17, 2018 The same thing for the micro-USB charger on my Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone. I look for the logo on the plug, making sure it's facing up, before I plug it in.

pedalphile Posted October 17, 2018 Share #23 Posted October 17, 2018 The front gate at my gaff almost never closes properly on the catch if you just swing it shut, nearly allus requires snicking properly by hand: but in 2006 I swung it shut behind me as I rode through and it shut properly on three, yes I said THREE, consecutive occasions. Unbelievable, and it hasn’t happened a single time since. Unbelievable I say.
