  2. Some O-6 colonel got all out of shape in an email today about something he accused me of. Wrong! He also CC'ed all my bosses. Of course as a contractor, I had to swallow my pride and not tell the SOB what an azzwipe he is. The #1 reason the government hires contractors is to take the blame when they screw up. Anyway after work I went on a ride. I took out my anger on a flat 1.5 mile Strava segment. I came in 21st out of 331. I'm also #3 in the +200 lb weight class and #1 in the 55 to 64 YO age group. Not bad for an old, fat guy! Tomorrow will be interesting to see if my bosses support me or throw me under the bus. If 'under the bus' I might just break into the Top 10.

  3. I just had to son-in-law of a resident ask if I was married. When I said no..he asked "Why not?"...I replied that "no one asked".... His response was that I should not feel bad, I am a classy and stylish lady and I just need to bump into the right shopping cart I am kinda beyond the caring stage...but it sure was nice to have a gentleman of the right age say such nice things to me Good for the ol ego...especially when you know you have been slack in the area of diet & exercise.

  5. Now Mr Bob Costas thinks that sports casting is the act of talking about bullshit social issues when there is a game on. That's why he is the NBC Sports anchor. NBC thinks sportscasting is talking about human interest crap when a game is on. but I digress the real issue is the Redskins. We had the Redskins playing the Cowboys Sunday night, prompting Bob Costas to climb up on his soap box. Now that he has climbed back down, it my turn... First of all, if the Washington Redskins are as innappropriately named as Mr Costas says, I have to ask you...who won the damn war anyway? Did General Custer die in vain? was Buffalo Bill just out hunting? Listen, you remember all those treaties we broke? Well in one of them was a clause giving white man the marketing rights to Indian names, Indian likenesses, and pretty much any Indian related items we could trademark. The language was intended to protect cigar stores from liability at a time when they were practically deforesting the place carving cigar store indians for shops back east, but it paved the way for the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Braves, Florida State Semenholes and many other Indian based teams at all levels of sport. to the victors go the spoils We won, and we get to call our football team the San Diego Sitting Bulls if that's what we want to do You redskins can just sit there and learn to love it because you signed the paper. Nevermind that we broke the treaty the following spring. The part we broke was only the part that said you could keep your land. the marketing and trademark issues were still intact in fact, we'd be perfectly within our rights to sue you for trademark violation and racial insensitivity for your Indian Casinos. We could make you call them Native American Berring Strait Walker Casinos if we so desired. So leave our sports teams alone, Bob Costas, you bunch of vicious PC thugs! we won the Indian wars and if our nations capitol has a football team, we're going to call them the Redskins until you pry that rubber novelty tomahawk out of our cold dead hands!

  7. When you come face to face with your own mortality and are forced to realize how little time we actually have here, it always puts everything into perspective. Most of our day-to-day problems are really insignificant when viewed against the entire scope of our lives. We have to constantly put the past aside, move forward, do what we can for family and friends and enjoy our lives as much as possible. Our time is running out.

  12. The surgery revealed an inoperable aggressive brain tumor. 16 months to live. This sucks. I have a friend that found out the same way. Some some people gave him a hard time about smoking and drinking again but he says he don't care the doctors gave him 6 months. So when I see him I just sit and listen even if I herd the story five times before. Some times he has a hard time getting out what he wants to say and some times the story changes in mid sentence. We just laugh and try to steer him back to the first story he started with. All you can do is cherish the time you have together

  15. I am pretty good at letting things roll off my back. When shit first start hitting the fan, I usually just sit back and observe. Once I see things are settled, I start to divide and conquer. I start by identifying with easy victories and issues I have no control over. Don't get me wrong, there are times when I need to get away and hide but that is were cycling and long walks come in handy.

  19. You did not fail.........the relationship grew and changed...unfortunately not with both members going in the same direction. That happens..it doesn't necessarily mean someone failed it just means you each grew differently. Hugs to you Suzie.

  20. From what little I know of you, failure is not how I would describe you. You are a kind and decent person with a big heart. You feel so full of life. Whenever I see your posts, I know there is likely to be beauty posted. No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Eleanor Roosevelt

  22. Yeah. I gain some in Winter, but I really don't want to, this year. I am hoping to stay lean as possible. I want to keep my climbers shape going into next season. It doesn't help that I am slightly Hypothyroid. Weight packs on so easily for me. I am so sorry to hear about your doggie. That is rough stuff.

  25. Out here in the country all the world's an archery range to one degree or another, and its good to get a sense of what shooting in the field is all about. Sure, you can get a foam rubber deer or a target or something like that, but when you're a redneck, sometimes you just have to get creative... now off about 25 yards or so is a punkin sittin on one of those hay bales, and I got my longbow and some arrows so this is what we call out here a "target of opportunity" I shoot a flight of arrows and go down and check it out... hmm...look like we need to get us a bigger punkin!

  30. I agree with Nate here. I think that feeling of peace and the light that so many speak of is the spirits of those who have gone before us waiting to guide us on our way to eternity. My way there takes a different route than Nates, but I think we will end up in the same place in time. Life is too short to go through angry, filled with regret or shame or guilt or whatever holds you back from true relationships with others. That is where the true riches in life are found, when we can let go of ourselves and really invest in our neighbors. Sorry to hear of your friends illness. Take this time to invest and let down the walls and get to know her.

  32. you never know how long you have as you know, I'm a devout Catholic, so for me death isn't the end of it all. The last time I got run over, something remarkable happened. While I was laying there in the weeds, one foot in this world and one in the next, I found myself with my old relatives that had died. I even met some of the relatives I only knew from grandma's stories. There were more people that I didn't know. It was a wonderful feeling. Comforting, happy, together.... but for some reason I got a second chance, and so I had to return to this world. That's when I changed my life and started to give alot of my time to the Church doing volunteer work What i'm getting at is that there is more to life than we can imagine. Dying is just ending this period of exile from the Kingdom. It is the end of our suffering here. We mourn for our loss of thier company here on Earth, but we know that we will see them again.

  33. you basically have to come through here. That's why we're the Keystone State. there's only 2 ways you could go that would make any sense at all and both of them come right south central PA but you will be in the area tommorrow afternoon, and I'll probably be at work when you go through, so relax....you're absolved of having to visit Bigwood Nate but we'll honor your vouchers for Nateland whenever do happen to make PA your vacation destination

  34. My wife and I are to the point where we don't worry about paying bills. We have enough money to keep us very comfortable in life. We don't have a lot of wants or needs to make us happy. We find fun in going for bike rides to go get breakfast or weekend motorcycle trips with no plan or destination. I like to stop at the stupid little museums like the Spam museum in Minnesota or the International Towing and Recovery Museum in Chattanooga and other ones we find along the way. My wife is the one that is dollar wise.......I'm not allowed to go to a motorcycle or bicycle shop without adult supervision.

Most other fox terriers look like small versions of airedales. http://www.dogster.com/dog-breeds/Smooth_Fox_Terrier Jack russells are smaller. Jrts
