27 miles, club tuesday night ride. Horrific winds, then rain for the last 6 miles. I did get to ride behind bike club chick I told her it was nice riding behind her, and she said "I bet it was"4 points

Haha, about fifteen miles on the road bike. Wholly cow does that thing handle different than my touring bike. I'm going to switch out the road pedals and put some SPDs on there with pedal spacers. I've had that road bike on the trainer for five years and never noticed how different it handled. My road shoes were always marginally tight on my feet but they felt horrible today. I have lots of mountain bike shoes with SPD cleats that fit me well. I think after a few changes I will like the road bike again. The new tires are nice. I'll give my new seat a few more miles but it's probably going to be switched out. I had a wicked headwind for part of the ride and the aero bars really seemed to make a difference. I rode just long enough to get helmet hair. Edit: I just noticed in this picture you can see the lump on my left shoulder from all the tendons that pulled loose on the crash this spring. I still find it hard to believe they are going to leave it like that.4 points

3.5 miles average pace.17 minutes per mile 7357 steps puts me just shy of 13,000 for the day...I need more days like this! However...I have a blister from pushing the pace...a common issue for me when I start working this kind of pace.3 points

MY frickin town is too cheap to pay for the 100% experience. We only ponied up for 77%. Cheap bastards.2 points

As dry as that is, it looks like straw and not hay, plus what would be the point in spreading hay in a pasture full of green grass to eat. So I have no clue what they are doing or why they are doing it, but the doggie sure is having fun. We always go this route instead of throwing it everywhere and making a mess.2 points

I like oven baked veggies. But I don't substitute them for fries. If I want fries I will eat fries.2 points

32 @ 18.7 temp had dropped to 93 by the start of the ride. Just enough of a wind that a few riders overheated and turned back early. Average would have been closer to 20, but we had to re-route when a stopped train blocked our usual path near the end of the ride.2 points

Happy Wednesday! Spectacular weather here. Umm LongJohn, unless you're terminology is different in PA, I would remind you she's not actually riding in that picture, she's pushing her bike. (Something I did many, many times on my cross country trip 8 years ago.)2 points

I think people like to hear about the journey, what it takes, how it goes, what went right, what went wrong, how coaching has helped, etc. This is a once a year thing (or twice if you actually ride a bike up), and is a big-ass challenge that I think most of us would like to have a go at at some point, or at least to think we would have done it in a past life. Hearing about what you do and the details you post forge a connection that we all share in, so there is that to consider. I say share away, people can always go to a different post if that isn't their cup of tea. Plus, we get to razz you about if you post, but miss out if you don't.2 points

Thursday or Friday I came across several recipes for "healthy" fries (NBC? maybe....) Anyway...I pulled up 3 that looked pretty good: Paprika Parsnip Fries with a Sriracha Dipping sauce...easy..3 large parsnips cut into fries tossed with 3 tablespoons of oil or melted butter 1/2 tsp smoked paprika and 1/2 tsp of sea salt..the sauce was just Sriracha Mayo & Cilantro... Grilled Carrot Fries: carrots cut into Fry size... tossed with oil and S & P toss to coat and grill (I will probably broil ) and a Chipotle Lime Aioli 6 oz greek yogurt, 2 Tbsp mayo, 2 finely chopped chipotle chilies + 2 Tbsp adobo sauce, Zest & juice of 1 lime, 2tsp chili powder, 1 tsp honey and a dash of S & P The third was Cajun sweet potato fries..the cajun spice mix is very similar to Emeril's "Blend"... Fries are again baked with just a couple tablespoons of oil.... All of them sounded good...I bought carrots...I may try those this weekend!!1 point

Cats are very easy to entertain. They do all the heavy lifting and all you have to do is provide some props.1 point

Ours will do the exact same thing if you leave a sheet or quilt on the floor with a few pronounced wrinkles to do battle with. No toys required --cat crazies are something special all their own. In the same vein, several of ours will suddenly dash back and forth through the house for no apparent reason, stopping only to jump into a cat condo, roll around on their back waving their paws in the air furiously, then flip back onto their feet and dash off. If I could explain it rationally, it would be a whole lot less amusing.1 point

Got home from the funeral and "luncheon" (a little ham, cheese and lettuce on a dinner roll..and chips...I am not a fan of potato salad)... Had cramps in my toes from my big girl shoes (it may be time to retire those suckers)..3 to 3.5 inch heels Now I am off to walk..since lunch was late...my dinner salad will be after the walk... Who wants to walk with me?1 point
