The redline is 7500 rpm, and the rev limiter kicks in at 8000 rpm. When the rev limiter kicks in, the gas is shut off to the motor for a while, and you slow down rather quickly when that happens. I shift at 7800 rpm. I don't want to engage the rev limiter again anytime soon.

The bike stock is 200hp and he did 192mph. A lot of street bikes start hitting the wall where the aerodynamics starts holding you back. 4 minutes ago, maddmaxx said: The bike is 200hp not 5000hp

Popular Post BR46 Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Share #9 Posted March 3, 2022 If you want to go fast on a motorcycle this is a guy that you want to listen to. Dave built the motor, made a lot of his own engine parts in shop and hand rolls the aluminum body parts. Dave did not pilot the bike but Dave is the brains behind 4 land speed records at Bonnevill salt flats
Popular Post BR46 Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Share #10 Posted March 3, 2022 I'm working with Dave on building a cylinder head for the sidecar because I think that we can find around 8 to 10 more hp in the motor. 5
Popular Post groupw Posted March 3, 2022 Popular Post Share #11 Posted March 3, 2022 A few years back, our local Ford dealer had a test drive for charity event. If you donated a few bucks to the charity for test drives, they would match the donation. We went down to test out a Ford Escape. There were a few people ahead of us. We asked if the Mustang in the group was ok to drive. “Well, yeah, but it’s a stick” No problem. So we went out with the sales lady in the back. As we got to the stop sign at the edge of town, she said “it’s ok if you want to have a little fun…” I got on it and immediately hit the rev limiter. Note to self! I then found the 2->3 shift was a little notchy. Once we figured that out, I did a couple others much better. A couple months later, youngest daughter’s boyfriend pulls into the driveway with that very car! I admired the car with him for a while then asked if he noticed the notchiness in 2->3. “Yeah. I did notice that. Wait how did you….” 1

Square Wheels Posted March 3, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted March 3, 2022 I don't think I would go 200mph in a car, never happening on a bike.

MickinMD ★ Posted March 3, 2022 Share #23 Posted March 3, 2022 I was thinking about my tachometer recently for my 117 hp, 4-cyl, Honda Fit. If I floor it on an expressway, it goes up to about 4000 rpm or so. A 70 mph it's around 2200. But it goes up to 8,000 rpm for some reason. Maybe that's in case I put a monster 150 hp engine in it! BR46 Posted March 3, 2022 Share #24 Posted March 3, 2022 I use more than the whole tachometer on the sidecar. I shift in between 8,000 and 8,500 I will spin it as high as 9,000 that makes up for the 500 not having a tach
