For what it's worth none of that is happening.

I am watching the most butchered airplane move of all time over the shoulder of whomever is in the row in front of me.

The movie was, Confidential Assignment 2: International, and the person in front of me was a rabbi.

`So what are the next steps?  Are you going back to look for a rental if Baker St doesn't work out, or will you do that remotely?

Either way if I win the bid or Baker is a bust I am going to stay in Georgia and settle Springwood. Then return to Saranac Lake.

If I get Baker then yay, if not, rent a place and keep looking. They are lousy with Air B&Bs up there.  To the point that Saranac Lake is implementing limits on them.  Finding temporary housing will be easy peasy.

Got my sister left, but that's it.  Sitting here with everything packed around me, I do feel a bit like the last prince of his line standing in the ruins of his castle.

I bet.  Is it one of those things where you feel this is an opportunity to try something new before time runs out?  Or are you just tired of living in your state?  I moved up here for economic reasons but also I felt like if I didn't do it -- I would always live in the same area for the rest of my life. Now if it make sense financially, I'd consider leaving/moving again.

I'm doing it for the bugs. I've said it somewhere in these recent sprees of oversharing threads, I die or have to sell out or whatever, a developer takes this place and my bugs die.  I don't want to be that guy.  It's a third of an entire species, I don't want to be that guy. They are jewels of the earth, making their preservation a lifelong endeavor ends in failure, it has to be generational.

As for running away so far, I don't want to live in Springwood's shadow. And no mater how well it's done, I don't want to watch the changes. Everything here is full of memories and personal. Pretty sure it's going to be like watching a stranger use your toothbrush.  I loved that toothbrush.  it was a great toothbrush. That's your toothbrush now, I'm going to go get a new one.

So trying something different?  I mean Georgia is a big state. I hope this is not too personable but I'm intrigued.  It's like something I might do. Going to the Northeast is quite a bit different toothbrush.

I was in that church this Sunday.  My mother was a Presbyterian as well.

My mother was not a Presbyterian. She was a mercenary organist. She was a devout Christian, over her life being a Methodist, Baptist and Episcopalian.

If you need to do more looking and are open to areas outside SL let me know. I can show you some very nice areas not far from SL.

...but it puts "home" buyers in competition with "AirBnB" buyers.  :(  That's the luckiness a lot of areas have run into - "businesses" buying up residential homes.

Been a while since you flew Delta, huh?  I'm not quite ready for granny porn yet. I still have a glimmer of youth to me.

Delta is my "back-up" plan for much of Europe.  Hopefully they keep the "domestic" crews from mixing with the "international" crews :D

I like mercenary organist!  A hostile church takeover set to music!

That's become a problem everywhere, not just places with a view. .

Different. is exactly it. New house, new environment, new seasons. I'm not interested in living abroad though. Alone that would be skating a bit close to the overwhelming edge.

It is the part of Texas I live in.   Easy to spend 10 hours driving in a straight line  and still be in Texas

Sorry, I'm unclear about the regional boundaries where East Texas, North Texas, and Central Texas exist.  For some reason, I think of North Texas as that upper panhandle.  Would Houston be considered South Texas?  East Texas?  Southeast Texas? And everything west of you West Texas??

This is close.  East Texas is also called The Pine Woods by some.  No one says North Central Texas.  Central Texas is often called The HIll Country.  Panhandle can also be called the High Plains.   The Gulf Coast is also called the Texas Riviera, but only in jest.

Mercenary Organist would make a great name for keyboard band.

But solidly the "Midwest", correct?  Like the folks from Idaho?

Mid-west is a misnomer that must date back to the covered wagon days.

From the CAnadian side north of you, I would have considered Montana, Midwest.

Our colloquial language in Canada, because we have less different jurisdictions (ie. less number of provinces and territories), we would not be referring Midwest Canada.  Alberta is referred by ourselves and other Canadians as part of western Canada.

However Alberta is considered as part of the Canadian prairie provinces with Saskatchewan and Manitoba,  closer in local economies (big agriculture), history of its major immigrant waves, some political history.  Alberta psychologically (for many people, even for locals), culturally and historically is distinctly different than British Columbia...and part geographically different except we do have part of the Rocky Mtn. range.

I refer to areas more on a resource basis, and we are in the Northern Great Plains. However, one cannot make broad generalizations about the Northern Great Plains, as the resource varies greatly from our area to mid-North Dakota. The other descriptions are for others to use. Yes, I am still very resource orientated. The Texas map that was posted is also very resource oriented.

Modern crap, what does it really mean?

It locates things geographically?  California, Oregon, and Washington are the "West" bit of the lower 48.  Likewise, the swath from Maine down to Florida is our "East" bit.  Then the middle "Central" part is ND down to TX and the remaining stuff is either mideast or midwest!  Easy peasy and aligning with the modern 50 states in the US not the few we had back when the term Midwest was coined?
