  4. I did a search and this is one of the easiest to understand explanations I found. Maybe it will help you. Friable vs non-friable asbestos Asbestos-containing materials fall into two broad categories: non-friable and friable. 'Friable' is used to refer to asbestos-containing materials that can be easily reduced to powder by hand, when dry. These materials are more likely to release measurable levels of asbestos into the airborne environment when disturbed, and generally pose a greater risk to health. Examples of friable asbestos-containing materials include: sprayed asbestos fire retardants thermal lagging, such as pipe insulation low density boards sheet vynil underlay or backing 'Non-friable', or bonded asbestos is used to refer to asbestos-containing materials in which the asbestos is firmly bound in the matrix of the material. These materials are unlikely to release measurable levels of asbestos fibre into the airborne environment if they are left undisturbed. Therefore, they generally pose a lower risk to health. Examples of bonded asbestos-containing materials include: asbestos cement products (flat and corrugated sheeting used in walls, ceilings and roofs, moulded items such as downpipes) vinyl floor tiles (however removal of the glue can be classed as friable) Because of its strength and its ability to resist heat and chemicals, asbestos was used in a range of insulation materials. http://www.thebreakthroughgroup.com.au/asbestos-removal/friable-vs-non-friable-asbestos.php

  7. Had an echocardiogram for a mild heart murmur my new Dr found. The technician was cool and was explaining everything to me. She angled the monitor so I could see and she was pointing things out. She said the Dr will provide a follow up but asked what they told me. I told her they said I had a slight murmur and they wanted to do this as a precaution. She said thought so as I don’t see much of a murmur here, blood flow looks good. After we got to talking for a while she says, can I tell you something? Uh sure what? When I called your name I was hoping you would stand up and my heart jumped for joy when you did. Me thinking oh this is awkward... Then she continues... You see most older men are usually obese and well there was that fat guy in the room too. You are my third one today and my arm & shoulder really get tired pushing against a bunch of fat.... And I thought she was coming on to me...?

  8. This was posted by another high school and college friend Our fellow classmate, Eric Smith, class of 1983 from Plano Senior High School has received another promotion within the United States Marine Corps. His new position is: Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia. Eric is a three star general and replaces the three star general (Berger) who is being promoted to Commandant of the Marine Corps (the highest position in the Marine Corps). He continues to serve our country proudly and his wife, Trish, deserves her share of credit because his success has been a team effort! Even though Eric is not on social media I wanted to share this news to keep his classmates updated. I know we all wish him continued success with the demands of this position.

  14. Our friends at Breakaway Siberians have been posting pictures of their huskies in Blues gear all throughout the playoffs. The Blues management noticed this and contacted them and asked for a meeting with them and their dogs at the arena. Last night after the win the result of that meeting was posted on their facebook page. Facebook post Breakaway Siberians web page. Like our team many of theirs are rescue dogs. Huskies are very cute but a handful and many are surrendered because they are too much for inexperienced people to handle. That said I do not condemn good breeders. Without reputable breeders we will never maintain good dogs but will only have problem ones from uneducated breeders, puppy mills and accidental breeding. It has been exciting to see the pictures our friends have been posting of their beautiful dogs. It is hard to imagine how difficult it was to get 16 excited huskies to pose for a picture like this.

  16. Title pretty much says it. The radiation treatment was going to cause damage. We knew this. I have sclereoderma which causes excessive scar tissue. We figured this would pose additional challenges. 6 months post treatment and some scarring is becoming evident. I started to lose hair on my face and chin after it had already begun to grow back normally. Not the end of the world I know, but vanity is vanity. My neck has become very tight, I do stretching exercises multiple times a day to stave off the worse effects but essentially I feel like a have a mild case of whiplash on my right side, consistently. Jaw muscles have become considerably tighter, I have trouble opening my mouth wide. A sub sandwich is difficult to open and close over. No more double stacked hamburger patties in the future for me. All in all it is not a huge thing. The doctors way of looking at it is correct. "None of this is life threatening, at the moment, just life altering. You can adjust." I can and I will. Just a weird emotional thing to have to have a constant reminder of my potential impending doom. It was easier to accept when treatment was ongoing and even easier when it ended and I started recovery. Now with no cancer in my body currently to have this start to show up is strange to process.

  21. I live in the community I grew up in and often bump into people I knew in HS. I can generally recognize the guys, not so much the girls. I was at a back to school night a few years back and kept seeing this mom who kept looking at me. I thought she looked familiar too so said hi to her. She said you don’t recognize me do you? Uh sorry no I don’t... She was a girl I dated earlier in HS... Oh hey how’s it going!?!? WOChrisL, old girlfriend? Yup... We’ll at least she didn’t slap you! Yeah good thing.

  22. Non-friable means the asbestos won't turn into powder by hand - where it could end up drifting into the air and then your lungs. Friable asbestos usually means asbestos containing materials that have gotten old and brittle.

  24. ...so it's pretty obvious that Canadians are generally not down with American hockey dominance. Which is understandable. I mean, how in hell can a place like Anahiem, CA have a professional hockey team ? Where do they practice in the off season ? Anyway : How the Raptors Won Their First N.B.A. Championship I'd like to say that as a person who cares little if anything about professional sports, I am thrilled that Canada as a nation has managed to do this. I hope there is dancing in the streets of Toronto at the victory parade. No one deserves it more, Congratulations.

  37. ...but you probably should. Gary Burrell - RIP. The co-founder of Olathe, Kansas GPS giant Garmin has passed away at the age of 81. A release from the company said Gary Burrell, aviation pioneer and co-founder of Garmin Ltd., died on Wednesday. Burrell co-founded Garmin with Dr. Min Kao in 1989, hoping to create projects powered by and using new technology for the time -- the global positioning system, or GPS. The company said Burrell retired in 2002 and continued to serve as Garmin's co-chairman for two years until he was named chairman emeritus. According to the company, of all his accomplishments, Burrell was most proud of the jobs he helped create. "Gary Burrell has been my friend, mentor and partner for more than 30 years," Kao said. "His vision, values, engineering skills and commitment to serving our customers have been the foundation for the growth of our company. It has been both a great privilege and a blessing to have known this amazing man and I know his legacy will live on." 41. This. I do similar and not over 2.5 lbs. But in that same time I kill two birds with one stone. I set a rolling hills program on wife's recumbent style exercise bike which works on legs and light cardio while using the weights exercising the shoulders, upper body. Thought of the combination as we have a gynecologist who lives in the neighborhood and for years (decade +) have seen him jogging/high pace walking the neighborhood and the only person I have ever seen combine it with weights exercising the upper body.

  43. Documentation often gets the lowest priority for several reasons: 1. You have to get it working first. 2. Specs change rapidly, requiring changes in the software and later documentation. 3. Once you get it running, there is always a new project that needs you attention immediately. 4. No one ever reads the documentation anyway. Most documentation that does get done is meant for the IT personnel who have to maintain the system.

  45. 1 cortisone shot helps. The second may help. After that it's a downhill slope. Listen to your trainer. At this point it's important that you not overdo the PT in an attempt to heal faster. None of the specific exercises they give you should go all the way to the pain point. You are building other muscles to cover for the torn tendon. If this doesn't work, surgery is next. It's taken a while for me to restore full range of motion and I'm still limited on the weight I can do in certain positions. Very limited because it still hurts to do some things. You can do this but it will take time.
