  2. Made it 231 consecutive days on the bike. Woke up to rain & rain in the forecast all day. I said I would stop if it rains Unless I get a bailoot ride later, I'm done Not sure I'll ever get this kind of streak again, it was a good run that's for sure.

  3. It was a lot quieter than boondocking at a Walmart and 100x quieter than a truck stop. I wanted to give Parr8 a ride on the sidecar but I broke the motor in Sunday's race. I think Wo46 could show Parr how to monkey

  4. I would sit out in the back, taking a break from the bathroom job, the butterflies were passing through, and just fluttered on bye, no reason to stop. This year they stop and take a tour about the garden, sample the offerings, then continue on their way. I had a lot of plans, and dreams, for this house and land, the covid derailment and uncertainty about my job postponed a lot of them, but I'm glad I did get my butterfly rest stop put in.

  6. The Bend home is going on the market Sept 25th. Talked to a realtor friend this week and was thinking to list it after the new house closes & the rent back period is done. then she says why don't you rent back? Duh! So try to get it done before November. She says it will sell one day. Listing price at the price another house got in March. But anticipate multiple offers & over asking. So I'm getting ready for pictures on the 21st. The new home closes next week on the 10th. I'll go back to Portland for that then run back to Bend & finish getting ready for pictures. All the personal pictures are down & in the garage. The Swarovski took about a day to get put away in the original containers. It fit in a big tote. Then I found another tote in the garage cabinets of Swarovski. I did not know that was there. All the shelves are cleaned off for the most part. WoScrapr put everyone of those pictures & knick knacks up. It has been a bit emotional. I've had to stop a few times. The night I told the Realtor to list it I cried as I talked to WoScrapr in bed about selling 'her' house. She loved it so much. Of course Eos came over to check on me as I was crying. So a bit of both sad to be letting the Bend house go & excited about the new house

  7. Mom of Old #7 called me Monday morning. She was very depressed and didn’t want to get out of bed. She isn’t happy where she’s at and she just wants to go home (i.e. the pearly gates). She told me to get a moving truck and come get her things and divide them up with my siblings. It was sad. I convinced her to get up, eat some breakfast, get dressed and go outside for some fresh air. My sister went over in the morning to visit. They now have controlled visits out front or back with masks and social distancing. After my morning ride, I made some vanilla cupcakes (box mix) with peanut butter frosting (homemade) Took 6 cupcakes to Mom and visited with her. She felt much better and shared 3 with other residents on the front porch.

  8. We payed a large sum for the septic approval and submitted our site plan. This is such a small area. The guy that sold our lot was there. The permit lady was giving us a bad time, and acted like she wasn't going to help us cause we bought his lot. The previous owner told us some stories about him shooting varmints from his window on the lot below. Then, to get our driveway approved, we saw someone we know at his office. This part was a very pleasant experience. We saw three different desks, and got a lot of paperwork. Now, I am sending off a well down payment. Things are happening.

  17. The last few years have felt a little predestined without a great deal of drama. This year, it seems like something interesting has happened almost every day. New faces. Some Americans to cheer for who are doing good things. Hope the rest day doesn’t mess up the good vibe.

  20. They are super nice. They have a beagle or some type of hound mix. I am making a basket for the dog. I am gonna put a plush toy, some chewies and a rope toy and assorted goodies. The dog will soon know us as they people that bring him/her gifts. We went out to the lot to plant more iris and they stopped to talk to us. They seem super friendly and we are looking forward to having them on the lot above. They will be pleased that our home is not going to obscure any of their views. Our home is tiny and only one story. The only thing our home build will do is raise everyone's values.

  24. I hate movies about teachers. It's always the same plot. A brand new, upper middle class, white woman gets a job at a rough school. The first couple weeks don't go so well. She decides to dish out some tough love, and full sized candy bars, and he kids start getting perfect scores on their ACTs.

  29. They were green cabinets. After nobody showed up at the first open house i was ready to paint them a different color. The Realtor & WoScrapr talked me down. We lowered the price below a big round number & the open house the next week was mobbed. I'm ready to quit with this buying & selling homes. It is much more stressful than I imagined

  30. They don't last very long in this reality. Got halfway across the river, noticed the voltmeter was reading 12. Blipping the throttle didn't move it. I did just rebuild the cockpit, everything's running fine, the stereo was still loud, maybe I did something to the gauge. I do have another battery. Started just fine after dinner, so we headed back, hoping to get out of the water before sunset. By the time we got a couple miles from the ramp, the gauge was dropping. Made it into the marina, voltage wasn't even registering, but the boat was running. And there was a line at the ramp. Finally got my trailer in the water, started to pull around the dock to load up, engine died. OK, just switch over the battery, I need volts to tilt. The boat waiting behind me was full of 20-somethings who, by the drunken singing of the bikini clad female contingent, had been having quite the party. They saw my boat die, started yelling, pushed one of the guys in the water whose job it was to swim over and push my boat up the trailer. I yelled back, the alternator crapped out and before I could finish explaining about the second battery, the song change to something about somebody's alternator crapping out and I couldn't shoo the guy in the water away from my prop. He did finally stumble up the ramp so I was able to restart the engine. Now I need an alternator. And there's a stupid song stuck in my ear.

  32. Pretty much the case. As @sheep_herder notes it depends where in the west but the southern areas like where I’m at it’s Aug - early November. NorCal & up probably Aug - Oct but it depends on local weather conditions. The West is a big place and although it is bad in certain areas the entire west isn’t burning. Just pockets of it. Different pockets lite up every year...
