  1. From our pre-1840 reenactment this past weekend. Due to covid both reenactors and visitors were down some. Weather was perfect all 4 days. I was running a dye pot with walnut and copper. Made a deep very nice dark green that works well for early 1800 military uniforms. Dyed one bag for myself and bags, pants and shirts for others in the camp. Our camp. Our next event will be Mississinewa 1812 the largest War of 1812 reenactment. Other pictures. I did not take any of these pictures but got them from friends who visited us. It is so good to have kids involved and not all old retired geezers. 3 of our granddaughters were with us demonstrating woll carding, combing and were doing quilting.

  2. It started well. There was a beautiful sunrise early in the race. The first 60 miles went well. From mile 60-90 there was a 40 mph headwind. It took me four hours to go 30 miles. At the checkpoint, I could not convince anyone to finish the race with me. I knew everyone behind me would drop since they missed the time cut-off. So I rode the last 40 miles alone. I had to gain elevation for 20 miles then a 21 mile descent to the finish. The final 21 miles took less than one hour. I hit a cattle guard doing almost 50 mph.

  6. Back in '19 we went to the Buccaneers Bash, a pre-season kickoff party, it was at a resort in St. Petersburg called the Tradewinds. Was a great time all around. While there we got an "offer" for a 4 day stay at the resort for $169 (taxes and resort fees not included). Was a great deal. All we had to do was sit in on a timeshare opportunity meeting. Yeah, we'd heard of them and never been to one but figured 2 hours for them to try and ply us to buy wouldn't be too bad... right? We checked in Thursday night. We had to go across the street to a strip mall to find the welcome center for the timeshare place. Once we got checking in there we could go across to the resort to our room. Room was nice, directly over looking the kids pool and a view of the beach/gulf. Of course we brought the kiddo so everyone swapped to the bathing suits and off to the pool we went! The resort is surprisingly nice. I've been there before for conferences and the Buccaneers event but never actually used the facilities. They have 30 acres on the water with 6 main buildings. I kinda liken it to a the "at sea" days on a cruise ship. Activities spread around the entire place every day from almost sun up to well past sun down. Keeping the lil entertained was easy and we all had some good fun. The "2 hour tour" actually turned out to be rather pleasant. I won't go into details about the company but they do have a compelling pitch. IF we primarily traveled in the US then I can say the cost of entry is worth it and quite a bargain over the long haul. But we usually travel overseas and only use extended weekends here state side. They were receptive to our reasoning for not being interested and made it simple to walk away. No hard sale or anything of the like. I'd honestly recommend them as a service, if your travel style was US based and you liked to hang at resorts for the majority of your vacation time. That's my twin sister and her boyfriend who just took 2nd place at some bodybuilding competition two weeks ago. As you can see in the photo of my daughter and sister, they get mistaken for mother/daughter a lot. Helps that she shares a bunch of my genes too.

  7. Gina has light brown hair so I am still not sure whether it is white or grey ha ha ha! But as we aged, I was always wondering what I might think of her hair going grey. I want to say it was 5 years ago, she dyed her hair and NOPE! HATED IT, both of us. So I actually started wondering what could she do if her hair started going grey and we didn't like it. So, she has dyed her hair ONE time in her almost 59 years. Never again, I won't let her ha ha ha! Some of you will get a hair up your arse and say, "what do you mean, you won't let her?!". That means that I will tell her how sexy she looks with grey hair and that I love it so she should keep it so I can admire it. And that is exactly what happened. One worries about stupid things when young. But now with the aging and going grey, I love it! I love the white strip she has along the front edge of her long hair, sometimes down to her waist. I think it really gives that mature woman look I admired as a young lad. So now, sometimes, I just take her pic trying to capture the white in it as it gets more and more grey. I did a good thing as a young bloke. I found a chick that I knew would always keep me interested with her sex appeal. FTR to the guys, sex appeal is not all about weight and silicone. It's that little walk, talk, giggle, sweetest personality, and booty that keeps me interested ha ha ha! But either way, I am loving her greying hair!

  11. Marriage will do that to you. I got married at age 25. By age thirty I had white hair. I didn’t realize it until I was checking in with security as I was making a Pittsburgh delivery and the form I filled out asked age, height, eye color, hair color. I filled it out and handed it to security and they handed it back and said: “Your hair is not brown, it’s white.”

  13. Martha Stewart's Savory Fall Stew: about a pound each of Italian Sausage, Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Onions, Butternut Squash, Fennel, Brussels Sprouts, and Tomatoes in Chicken Broth seasoned with dry Italian seasoning and cooked just enough (root veggies added first) so the veggies are a little firm. Each spoonful is a different flavor combination, all of them excellent! That's 5 quarts and makes 6 big bowls: I freeze two bowl's worth for later!

  15. Pan fried some trout filets on the grill. Cut them up and made fish tacos with a slaw mix, cilantro, lime and a sriracha aioli. Turned out really well, but I was hoping for a little more smoke to the fish. Next time I will throw on some wood chips. Served with Kinkaider Dragon Juice IPA.

  19. For those of us running tubeless and don’t have a compressor, I got the Schwalbe Tire Booster and am happy to report it works well. It’s a bit over $70 which is less than an air compressor and about the size of a large wine bottle so doesn’t take up much room. You basically charge the tire booster with your bike pump, then charge the tire with a blast of air from the tire booster. I refreshed the sealant on the Anthem today and used the tire booster to reseat the beads. I had previously reported that I can’t seat the beads with a floor pump. I got it to go with the tire booster! The only issue I came across is I had to charge both tires 2X to get the bead to seat. With 160 PSI for the tire booster, I got a good upper body workout but was rewarded with a solid pop on the second charge of air on each tire. The Anthem has 2.2’s so I’m wondering if I’ll need two charges for the 32’s on the crosser. I know few here run tubeless but it’s worth checking out if you are having a shop refresh your sealant.

  20. Some visitors from the future were carrying some strange devices in their hands. Some of them even had those devices stuck to their faces. It seems like people in the future have a strange mutation in there genes that causes them to never be separated from these devices they called phones. It was strange that when we got home we found that they had many images of us. It feels like they stole our souls.

I don't know how she had the energy but she never complained on the climb up and was super excited every time she did it.

  34. Thanks, Reenactments are a lot of work but I think well worth it. First 2 days were school days for forth and fifth grade kids then 2 days for the public. Great way to teach history and make it interesting. I encourage everyone to look for living history events in your area and either visit or take part.
