Ralphie ★ Posted November 14, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2020 Lately when my iPhone is on WiFi, it will bog down when opening a thread. If I turn off WiFi and use LTE, the thread will open right up. A similar thing seems to happen on other websites or even apps like the iPhone news app. Why would that be? Ralphie ★ Posted November 14, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted November 14, 2020 Of course like taking your car to the shop and the problem disappearing, I went back and now the lag is gone. Or maybe not.

Hmm, Goode pointe. I guess I can turn off “Ask to join networks” to see if that helps.
MickinMD ★ Posted November 14, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 14, 2020 Being a cheap Tracfone user, I try to use WiFi all the time and get a wide range of speed in loading web pages, etc., depending on whose WiFi I'm using. I think it has to do with the handshake protocols that occur before WiFi accepts the connection because once the page starts loading, it loads fast enough. At Walmart, I use the store WiFi to connect my Samsung Galaxy S7 to the network so I can use my Walmart app to pay at checkout. Sometimes that is real slow, though that may simply be a bandwidth problem due to lots of users.

donkpow Posted November 14, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 14, 2020 You could manually set IP address. Slight security hit. How about DNS change? 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8 etc. "DNS Jumper"

groupw Posted November 14, 2020 Share #15 Posted November 14, 2020 What is your signal strength? My spot on the family room sofa is on the fringe of good WiFi reception. Usually fine, but if we are streaming a movie on our Apple TV or we have more than a couple people in the family room, the WiFi radius shrinks so LTE works better. I’m hoping to upgrade to a mesh WiFi system in the near future. You may also want to just reboot your router.
