Popular Post MickinMD ★ Posted December 7, 2021 Popular Post Share #4 Posted December 7, 2021 When I was a senior at UMBC in 1973, our chemistry department got it's first automatic titrator, a complicated device that handled two liquids to determine the strength of an acid or base. A few of us seniors and three chemistry professors excitedly set it up. But we were stumped at the direction, "Ensure that 110 VAC is operational," and debated what it meant for a few minutes. The problem was solved when a freshman chemistry major I was dating, Paula, walked in, looked at the directions and asked, "Doesn't that just mean 'Plug it in'?" 1 1

There are WAGs and then there are SWAGs. We know the former, but the latter are Scientific Wild Assed Guesses where one has eliminated some of the lesser probabilities before committing to a WAG.
