A few years ago my daughters, WoJSTL and I were going to do some hiking in the mountains near Lawton, OK. My daughter turns her minivan left into a picnic ground. Next thing I see her hauling ass in reverse and a buffalo charging the minivan.3 points

I worry a lot about RG. Not about mental stability or anything. He has that in spades. Really a rock solid and fun guy. He is having more than his share of challenges right now and I wish I could step in and make his problems go away. He needs a job, needs cash, and probably needs to get out of NYC for a sanity break and breathing space.2 points

I saw this herd a few times driving near Fort Providence NWT a number of years ago. These are wood bison which are quite a bit smaller than plains bison. Still impressive critters though.2 points

My mom had one for making sambal. She only used it for that as I’m sure if you used it for anything else it would be hot. One of my sisters ended up with it. It was a wedding gift so travelled from Indonesia to Holland to America. It was slick & smooth from decades of use.2 points

Our son sort of put it into perspective. When someone asked him how he could stand the heat and humidity after he moved down south from Wisconsin. He said he dealt with the same in both locations. He'd start the car ahead of time and set the climate control before he drove away, and hurry between the car and store. I'm guessing at some point if we can retire, we'll move somewhere warmer. But until then, we're still making memories.2 points

Yeah Elysian has some good brews. I work right across the street from the brewery. But I am on the @Couch_Incident ride. I too don't drink anymore -- and for good reason.2 points

Just going to break out a Diamond Crown tomorrow for a nice long snowy drive to Bend. Normal summer drive time is 2:25 hours. Saturday will be close to 4 hour I am about 6-8 or 9 a year. My go to is almost anything by A Fuente. Then a LaGloria. Then I let the cigar shop guy guide sell me whatever he wants to2 points

We're going to DC for President's Day Weekend with another couple. So we'll probably celebrate Valentine's Day there. I suppose I should make reservations at a Restaurant somewhere, the walkabout may not work.2 points

He is such a nice guy, & very friendly. He chatted about his history of becoming a pro from when he started riding w/ his Dad when he was 12 yo. He did a lot of track racing, along w/ his two sisters who were actually better than him, hehe. But they never pursued a career in cycling. and do not ride today. I did not know this. He said when he turned pro he was lined up next to LeMond, Fignon, et al and thought "I don't belong here" He talked about racing in peloton and the dangers. He said its definitely scary. He talked about the tactics used form team-to-team, where deals are made to chase lead groups down. He even said riders would bet among themselves who would breakaway first His stories are amazing to hear. I could of listened to him talk for hours. When he was commentating for OLN & Verses, he named some riders who were good to interview, and some that were not...was funny. We asked a lot of questions which was cool. I asked if he had any of his pro bikes. He has two. A 7-11 Eddy Merckx (not sure of the year), and a 1999 US Postal Trek. He has some jerseys from the tour and other races. Someone asked what his most memorable pro career moment was. He said riding into Paris in 1999 w/ Lance in yellow. He didn't think they had a chance. (insert asterisk here). He also has a signed yellow jersey from Lance in his house. Kinda surprised me. But at the same point I think that's awesome. He's been to 25 TdFs. He rode in 9, commentated for 6, and the rest were on his own accord. Although its been a few years since he's been back. He's still involved in cycling. He commentates local races w/in Michigan, and some other states as well. He used to coach, but does not do that anymore. He coached for the US postal team also, I did not know that. He still rides, but no more than 2 hours, and w/o any computer. He just rides. It was a great evening and I'm glad he accepted my offer to come to the meeting. We told him about some of our club rides, and one ride starts probably a few miles from his house. He's interested in riding w/ us So hopefully this summer I'll get to ride w/ him. How freaking cool. Just wanted to share w/ you all1 point

We had our own Bison drive when I was working for the doctor that raised exotic animals. He had a dozen bison and he thinks he must have not latched the gate right. He found the gate open and all the bison gone. He didn’t know which way they went. We got on the four wheelers and started a search. We found no trace of them, then someone called and said there was a herd of bison in downtown NewWilmington (about four miles from the ranch). We pretty much herded them back home with the four wheelers like they were doing with the snowmobiles. I didn’t know how we were going to get them in the gate but they ran right in.1 point

OK I deal with this all the time. You should have recorded your answers to him on the printout. You could then go to the scanner and scan the document, send the scan to you - attach the scan to an email and send it to him. Why is this so difficult?1 point

That's a pile of firewood that will warm you twice! That brings back memories.... there was a lumber mill not far from my elementary school and we used to buy similar-looking scraps of oak (though few with bark, as I recall). We'd just drive down, back up to a huge scrap pile, and throw them a piece at a time into the back of the pickup. It is a miracle I never smashed the back window of that truck - I know I nailed it a bunch of times. It was a slow ride home, up a 1-mile 10% grade in a full size Chevy with a load of oak weighing it down. That oak burned like the fires of hell in our wood stoves.... toasty. ? now the lumber mill is closed - but the Town bought it and moved their offices there.1 point
