  5. It was exciting, at least for me. Previously, I had only seen one bear out in the wild, but that was in CO and the bear was roughly 400 yards away and down a steep ravine, not close at all. Anyway, I came up over a rise and there it was, already running off the road as it saw the car lights. I really only saw the back 80% of it, the head was already in the shadow. Still cool, though!

  6. 200 but I think it is a good thing we over estimated. Total chaos right now. Hall seats 80 at a time. All seats taken with people and visiting the resource tables like Narcotics Anonymous , Salvation Army coats, health department, police pantry food sharing. Line outside is about 50. Special line for a couple people with dogs that cannot come in. We will get them to go boxes. Plentiful volunteers all looking for jobs. Stay out of the kitchen Shane, Dave, and I have that covered.

  9. Everyone cooked at home and brought in. Somethings stayed hot and others needed warming. 10 turkeys, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, and rolls. Also we had 38 pies and apple cider or coffee.

  10. They finally arrived! I had a pair of cheap binocs that was awarded decades ago as a corporate performance/motivational prize. Tasco 7x35 Porro design is almost an insult than an award! No adjustment to the eyepiece so couldn't wear glasses for viewing, taking them off and adjusting the diopter for vision correction. These are the much better roof design and the eyepiece, all the way in for glasses as pictured, but both will pull out to compensate for those not wearing glasses. All binocs are designed for the no glasses and sets the lens for the distance from eyepiece to eye. Being able to collapse the eyepiece down compensates for the distance from the eye that the glasses introduce. As a result can see the full frame of vision rather than two dots. While initially looking at Nikon Monarch 7M, these Vortex Vipers are their #1 competitor, and both are considered upper middle range and tops in their class. Vortex warranty blows away everything in the industry - unconditional, unlimited, lifetime where all others are 5-7 year limited.

  11. Saving $250 in a year is NOT gonna ever be a reason for me to visit Ohio! Heck, vaccines alone to cover the myriad of diseases there would far exceed any of that savings from the "cheaper" gas!

  32. I think it is time to install Christmas tree for 2023. I think we will put in another blue spruce. They seem to be the most bomb proof tree. None of those have died on us. They seem to be amazingly drought resistant and are great habitat trees too.

  36. My wife and I homeschooled our kids for six years. My grandkids are also homeschooled for six years. Three of my grandkids are now in public school and all of them have been straight A students from day one. They are also social butterflies and involved in sports, clubs, band, and the eldest one just had a leading role in the high school play. you can find dumb kids and ones that have no social skills in public schools too.

  43. No food or water for 6 or 7 days. Then I ate and then no food or water for 7 of 8 more days. When I had pancreatitis the 'cure' is you don't eat or drink anything. I had an IV for fluids and plenty of body fat for food. I was released after almost a week from the hospital. The pain never really went away. The doc at the hospital told me it will get better,. It didn't. Then I had 7 or 8 more days (can't remember now) of just the IV again in another hospital. That time... the pain slowly went away. If I recall... I lost 38 pounds. Even better... the weight never came back.
