Longjohn ★ Posted July 16, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2016 You're supposed to wash your gloves and headband?
Road Runner Posted July 16, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2016 I wash my gloves after I figure it is time, based mostly on how hot it has been and how much I have sweated in them. I own about a half dozen pairs, so they just get rotated through.
Randomguy Posted July 16, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted July 16, 2016 I think I probably average about 10 rides or so before I am sufficiently disgusted enough to wash them. If I don't ride hard or it isn't hot, then it can be quite a while.
bikeman564™ Posted July 16, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 16, 2016 gloves: never. Head bands, typically weekly or ever other week depending how funky it is. PS head sweats are awesome
Nate Posted July 16, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 16, 2016 I wash my gloves every time I ride. I've been riding with the same pair of half gloves since 2008 and same pair of winter gloves since 2005 they're in the dryer right now
sheep_herder ★ Posted July 16, 2016 Share #7 Posted July 16, 2016 Gloves whenever they got funky. I wear head bands most days when doing chores, and on hot days I may have to wring them out 2 or 3 times. I have several and rotate them, and do not wash them nearly enough. When the dogs start avoiding me, I know it is probably time to rinse them out in the sink.
Wilbur ★ Posted July 16, 2016 Share #8 Posted July 16, 2016 Gloves and headbands/skull cap every use.
JerrySTL ★ Posted July 16, 2016 Share #9 Posted July 16, 2016 Headband/do-rag after every ride. Helmet once a week or so. Sometimes spray Frabreeze in it. Gloves about once a week.
Further Posted July 16, 2016 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2016 I don't wear gloves, I do wear a do rag type thing made of some kind of high tech cloth under my helmet, it gets rinsed in the sink after every ride.
UglyBob Posted July 16, 2016 Share #11 Posted July 16, 2016 I don't use a headband, I use a cap under my helmet. I wash both the gloves and cap when my wife says, "What's that smell? Did the dogs drag something dead into the house?"
Page Turner Posted July 17, 2016 Share #12 Posted July 17, 2016 ...I wash them after every ride, but I try not to shower more than weekly. I have hippie standards to uphold.
MickinMD ★ Posted July 17, 2016 Share #13 Posted July 17, 2016 Gloves only is they get filthy, headbands usually get thrown in the hamper only if they're very wet after a ride. I keep a spare headband in my car's glovebox and if I drive to a trail and the one in my bike box feels grungy, I'll grab the spare.
Airehead Posted July 17, 2016 Share #14 Posted July 17, 2016 Hair tie and gloves every time I wear them. Gloves match jerseys so they get washed together
