  2. I have been out of sorts since last Thursday. Basically did a bunch of nothing, and one walk outside this weekend. Yesterday, I still wasn't feeling it. Today, I got back into the gym, and got moving. The cold air sucked and it is icky out. Evenstill, I opted to get out and move. Workout was shoulder press for strength with a 25#, I could have gone heavier...decided to keep the tone low, V ups and jump rope alternating for ten minutes without stopping. The V ups are hard. My abs might hurt later. Despite wanting to be a sloth, it felt good to move again. OOF!

  5. The forecast called for rain between 5am - 7am, the time when I'd be riding to work. Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead! I decided to live the Wild Life and take the Big Risk of getting rained upon. Curses! Blast and Drat! After summoning All Courage to brave the Inclement Elements, it only sprinkled for about two minutes.

  7. OK so how many of you guys/gals road a bike like this? Floppy brake cables, toe clips, friction down tube shifters and the buttery ride of lugged steel? the bullseye pully thread got me to thinking about my first race bike. I rode a bike very similar to this one from 1982 to 1995.

  9. I had some of their wheels too and they made brakes back in the day. They may have made some other components too but were most known for their wheels.

  10. My Falcon of England Euorapa. Bought at a yard sale for $10. Had all Weinmann parts on it. Rebuilt with Shimano 105 and installed a set of Alex rims that came on my Trek 1200. Reynolds 501 tubing. This is my primary ride.

  15. New pulleys for the road bike from my lbs. The upper stock pulley was not free spinning so I upgraded to these from Hope, made in UK. $50. And came with stickers.

  16. My pulleys are the color of dirt but that matches my bike so I guess it's ok.

  19. I just found a picture of the first funny car I drove (license tests) This will give you an idea how far back in the day that was. It still had doors and ran a whopping 9 second quarter at 165 mph. Needless to say it was no longer a Sox and Martin car.

  23. I mean no disrespect to Gina (or, thus, to you) but I think American society in general has way too many problems with the way people look. Those are some nice toes - frankly I wouldn't have even noticed that they hang over the edge of the shoe. Also, the engineer in me can't fathom why anyone would buy such impractical footwear. (seriously, those heels are too high)

  26. When I was growing up we would take a few slices of bread and hike to a pond about two miles away that had bream and blue gill in it. We would pinch a little piece of bread off of the slice, roll it around between our fingers to make a little ball. Stick it on the hook and catch a fish almost every time. Over the years we caught a lot of fish that way.

  29. Cover letters haven't changed all that much, their purpose being much that same as in the past - pique enough interest to get a job, or at least an interview. Cover charges, however, always seem to go up. And those are my observations.

  32. I brought a mock King Cake into work. It's decorated in a nice mardi gras theme, but it's not the proper New Orleans sort of cake. But there is a small plastic figurine baked in the cake, so it does add an air of danger to the whole thing.

  38. I'm pooped. An hour on the stair master this morning. Only got in 238 floors, I slowed down toward the end. Just did an hour of our gyms version of crossfit. Damn that was hard, so naturally we'll start going 3 days a week now. I will get fit if it kills me.
