This is a picture of my paternal grandfather before he shipped out for Indonesia in 1909. The sign, Tot Weerzeins basically means until I see you again. (There is no literal translation into English). I never got a copy of this picture, I took a picture of a picture which isn’t great as you can see my phone in the shadow but my sister said she’d scan it. The back story of this picture is he gave it to his sister. This sister died during the bombings of Rotterdam and some how the Dutch govt located next of kin, my dad who was relocated from Indonesia to Holland and gave him her belongings.11 points

We aren't bad people. We are just flawed beings, like all of mankind. We don't always agree or do or say the right thing, but we are all good people at heart who mean no harm. We are family. I miss my sister, @MoseySusan.11 points

Making my barbecue sauce today. Should get about 6 pints or so. I will pressure can them for long term use. I’ve been making this recipe for over 30 years. At the point where I am making my own chile powder. Onions, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, cheap beer, brown sugar, dry mustard, chile powder, coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper.8 points

I sent @MoseySusan a text to let her know we miss her. She replied there are good people here. I will follow up with her, but she may just need time and space. This isn’t the first time she’s taken a break.6 points

41 miles at an easy 15.7 speed. I had planned to ride solo but my buddy Tony asked if he could ride with me. He wanted an easy pace having had some tests done on his heart recently. Usually a pretty fast rider but today he was off the back a lot. At times I was doing 15 and he couldn't hold my wheel. Then some reason the final stretch to the coast, he went around lifting the pace for about 1/2 mile. Mistake! He suffered even more on the final 14 mile return. He says it was more inactivity being off the bike for a month and the 93 degree heat really zapped him. So we stopped for 🌮 tacos. They always make everything better. The plate with the green Chile pepper 🌶 on it is Tony's. That taco is language (tongue)....NO THANKS 🤣 But Tony says it's good 👍6 points

BCC looked fine and her daughter, simply beautiful. They were both happy that I attended, along w/ the groom. Dinner was delicious, I had the fillet. Best steak I ever had IMO. Had some drinks and good times, chatted with people I hadn't seen in a while. Ate breakfast w/ everyone this morning, then home. I'm tired.5 points

Our upstairs is essentially an attic. The prior owners had those small AC tubes run in the ceiling when they did a reno. There is a very tiny space above the ceiling, no access. I suspect they ran the tubes above the insulation - not good. We have central AC only in the upstairs of the house, on hot days it cannot keep up. There is a crawlspace in the front of the upstairs of the house, that is where the air handler is along with the main trunk that runs about 60 feet or so where all those little tubes connect to. That crawlspace gets super hot. I installed this in the end wall this morning. Hopefully it helps bring the temp down a little. Tomorrow I'll put some trim around the outside, for now I just wante4d to get it installed and running. I sweat, a lot. That was my exercise for today.5 points

I need you all like great confidants. You support me during stressful times without being involved in the issues. In return, I hope to do the same for you. I always feels grateful to have stumbled into this group and that @Square Wheels pays the mortgage on our home here.5 points

I once worked for a firm and we had about 12 managers. I came in from a different branch and several managers divvied up their portfolio and gave some of their accounts to me. This was from a perspective of security operations, not sales so they were not impacted in any way financially. One manager who didn’t like me decided to go into the account files and delete all account information from all of the accounts I took over. Pay & Bill rates, schedules, operational procedures & more, gone. This manager told other managers he did it and he was a petty bitch so everyone figured it was him. I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing he made my life hell so I quietly rebuilt all of the files and created back ups stored off site so we couldn’t lose data again. A couple of years later our boss retired, I took over the office & became his boss. Within a few months I fired him so I got the last laugh.5 points

I agree with BR46. Sometimes I use it as a fun distraction during the day, but mostly I just like getting to know the posters and learn about their different interests and activities. There are a range of people and backgrounds that I'd be unlikely to meet in my day to day life,. So hearing about your lives is a nice way to expand my own experiences. Plus I've been here long enough to have gone through some difficult times and I've appreciated the support and friendship I've found here.5 points

We ordered a little less than $500 in bulbs for Fall from Bracks.. I need to cut my budget down a bit for Fall bulbs. I want to spend a $1000 like you, but probably should only send a couple of hundred. My awesome husband installed the cutest shutters on the house yesterday. I am so pleased with the result. We live in a doll house.4 points

I come here for all the cycling tips. Honestly..., some of my days can be intense and sometimes emotional. This place is a good 'brain break' and a reason to smile in the middle of a shitty day4 points

I understand people need to take a break, or even leave, sometimes. But I care about the people here and it makes me sad when they go away. I hope @MoseySusan comes back if only for a quick visit and lets us know how things are going.4 points
