  3. Many thanks to @UglyBob for taking WoW and me through the Musical Instrument Museum. It’s really a neat place to touch base on music through time and from around the world. We spent half a day and just scratched the surface. More visits are planned in the future!

  9. It was a great day. I hope I didn't bore you folks too much. I tend to dump a lot of information when I'm there. It's my happy place. I can't wait to tour more forumites around the MIM if you come to town.

  11. …from a Sunshine Committee herbal tea treat a few weeks ago when the Moseys really needed a pick-me-up. Each tea bag makes 2 quarts of liquid tea, so I brew the concentrate with two cups of water and add a quarter cup of sugar. Then I store that in the beverage fridge. We add ice and water for tea, soda water for a refresher, fruited soda water like San Peligrino for deeper flavor. Thank you again to the caring soul who sent us this tea. It has brightened many afternoons.

  15. I don't have a porch. I do have a patio out back and it's looking onto a golf course, although all this rain has made the shrubbery/weeds grow so fast, the golf course is largely blocked by greenery. I used to love sitting on the front porch in the Catskills watching the "traffic" go by and the borders from the "resort" up the road taking a walk around the one block in town. Every time a truck with bales of hay went by, we got to make a wish.

  17. Well, last one of the summer season. We drive to Chattanooga tomorrow. Play actually starts Wens. We have a VRBO rented on Lookout Mountain. Should be super dope. This will actually be the last time we play for this team Smash House. We got invited to become a team on the Louisville Slugger organization. I think it will be a good move. I think the whole team will make the move. We already lost one of our girls to a different team, and not sure everyone will want to make the jump. So the team will certainly look a little different in the fall. The Slugger organization has a bigger name, can get us into higher positions in the tourneys that we want to play in. Can help get Emmy in front of the right coaches for her to be seen. I think it will be a good move.

  18. I can't remember having bell pepper plants that grew so many peppers it needed to be staked. After a heavy thunderstorm today, two of my baby bell pepper plants had fallen over. One had at least 15 peppers growing and the other 8. Fortunately the stems didn't brake. I bought 8 3-foot long "Sturdy Stakes" at Lowe's, drove two into the ground and tied the plants up right to them with garden wire (plastic around thin wire like bread twist ties). I'll stake the other 6 later. Here's yellow-L, red-R (when they ripen) mini bell peppers from Johnny's Seeds - the larger ones are already over an inch long and I'm hoping for 2" when they ripen. The plants are fallen over after a very heavy morning thunderstorm. Here's the garden after I pounded two 3-foot stakes a foot into the ground. The staked one on the right hasn't completely recovered and I stake it closer to the stake when it's branches stand up the right way. Behind the 8 peppers are L-R Kellogg's Orange Breakfast Tomato (huge, potato-plant-like leaves) and Original Sudduth Brandywine Tomato, the two beefsteaks to which other varieties are compared that I'm looking forward to tasting. Here's when they were knocked over. A couple peppers on the left are over 1" long.

  19. I covet your rains. The summer storms have only given us wind while it rains somewhere else. View from my patio.

  20. I had to cut a ride short the other day which is VERY rare for me. I like riding in the rain, but when I realized I was headed directly into the lightning rather than skirting it or outrunning it, I knew I should turn around. I sort of hoped it would stay behind me and I could just ride the other way, but it swept me up pretty quick. I did beat the hail by 10minutes, so that was a positive If I had my bike outfitted with a flux capacitor, I might have had some better options.

  27. Pretty good. He is just working as a groundsman right now. His actual apprenticeship starts August. He should see a significant jump in pay. He is studying for his CDL right now and should go to Franklin Indiana in October for Climbing school. He is enjoying it so far.

  28. I am keeping track of all the nights we spend in the van to justify the costs. I had thought that possibly we could rent vans instead of building this. We opted to build. So, I am keeping track of nights. So far we are at about 3000 in rental fees and we would have already been charged for damages. We broke a plastic fridge piece, and stained the cushion already. I am figuring the cost at $250 a night. This is likely a low estimate. My friend told me it cost them 300 or so a day for the ram they rented. It only came with a propane stove, fridge and simple bed setup.

  29. Possibly, but I consider the sweat in the garage and the crawling around the tiny assed engine bays that my Civic and CR-V as savings enough to pay someone else to fuck with them.
