  1. Washing machine stopped after the well house froze during the bitter cold spell. Two blue lights were blinking in a certain order. The fellow at ACE said that was a code indicating a waterline was blocked. I needed to clean the screen on the cold water and turn power off and back on to the machine. I've done this before and also ran extra water from the bib into a gallon jug to remove any residual particles. Hooked everything back up, but could not reach the plugin and could not move either washer or adjacent dryer. Finally it dawned on me that all I had to do was throw the breaker. IT WORKED!!!

  2. Our dipshit facilities guy’s last day is tomorrow. I had bitched about him here before, the guy has no filter and flies off the handle for minor issues. He’s the same guy who kept pointing a laser temp gun at my head. I told him to stop, he didn’t, I disarmed him throwing the temp gun against a wall breaking in in several pieces… Any way, dipshit was supposed to get whacked last week Friday, but he gave notice about an hour before we took him to HR. Unbeknownst to him, had he waited an hour he would have gotten 6 weeks severance & paid medical… Karma’s a bitch…

  3. Last week I had a 90 day follow up with my Dr. A1C dropped some but not enough really, 9.7 to 8.5. She is switching me from Ozempic to Mounjaro. After the appointment I started thinking back on my habits and although I eat decent meals, I snack and make poor snack choices (pretzels, chips & other carby snacks). So last Friday I started limiting my snacks and when I did snack started eating diabetic friendly snacks. Nuts & veggies instead of pretzels & chips. One of our guys also stocks a candy dish with hard candies which I love. I stopped eating those too… In less than a week my fasting glucose dropped from the 180 range to 150 range… My weight also dropped 7 lbs in 6 days. Mindless snacking was doing me in… I start on Mounjuro tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes.

  4. Still a little soggy in places, but a good ride. I’ll figure out how to adapt the GoPro cause this course has a couple 5foot drop rock gardens. gonna have to say I was not ready for this course just yet with this bike, but I liked it.. I am definitely going to have to work on the pedal knocking… pedal down is not good in some areas. I’ll have to say this 8 mile ride is not for my son just yet.

  5. I felt well enough today to open mail. I was touched that the sunshine committee sent me a heating frog. He is now cuddled against my back and by golly my kidney feels better. Heartfelt thanks to you all.

  11. but for once I am glad we do. The coffee maker in my kitchen started leaking. It is the kind with a removable water tank that you can fill up and set back on the machine and then program it to brew coffee at a preset time. It started off small, but got worse. I did try cleaning the valve between the tank and the machine and running a cleaning cycle, but lately, it would leak half a pot of water overnight, so I decided it was time to get a new one. I headed over to consumer reports and researched and then narrowed it down to the machine that offered the best balance of performance and cost. I went with a new Cuisanart model that got great scores for brewing temp. https://www.cuisinart.com/shopping/appliances/coffee_makers/dcc-t20p1/ So far I am very pleased. This thing makes HOT coffee. Like steaming hot, burn your tongue, a McDonalds worker would throw this in your crotch hot! Going to have to play with my grind coarseness and amount of coffee to add, as the temp affects the flavor of the brew hot. It has som neat feautres, like I can adjust how long the machine stays on after brewing so that on those slow mornings, my coffee is still hot three or four hours after brewing. Anyway, just sitting here at my desk and the coffee in my travel mug is still pretty warm.

  12. Did you save the pieces of the temp gun? Wrapped in a nice box, they would make a great going away present.

  15. Rode the trail after work. No intentions of a hard ride, but I could tell my pace was pretty good. I met a rider about .4 miles from my turnaround. Figured he would be at least .75 miles ahead by the time I turned around. Met another just before I turned around. They were both on road bikes. I was on the Bridgestone. I knew I had a light prevailing breeze at my tail on the way back. Just pedaled how it felt good and pretty soon I was catching the guy. 2 younger men on road bikes dropped down the access trail and passed him. I caught just before a short. It steep climb. I stink at climbing so I let him lead so I didn’t get in his way with the MTB. At the top he stayed at a recovery pace a little longer than me so I passed him and I noticed I was catching the younger guys. I caught and passed them as we went under I-10. They must have taken exception to being passed by an old fart on a MTB and picked up their pace. We stayed even for quite a while with them just out of my draft. We road this way for about 2 miles before they made a surge as we went under Mill Ave. and passed me. I didn’t fight them, but tried to stay close. About a mile from my finish, we caught the guy I had first met. About this point we were in the park by the lake so we all backed off a bit. When I got back to the parking garage, I loaded my bike and changed. I noticed my hip was tight when I walked back to the car so I turned on the heated seats. Even so, it was really tight by the time I got home after bumper to bumper traffic. Still pretty stiff today. Owl just do an easy walk tonight and an easy ride tomorrow and see how it shakes out. It was fun to chase, but I’m paying for it. It was my fastest ride on that trail ever by quite a margin.

  16. I had an impromptu meeting with a VP in HR. I’m walking back to my office with her and Ram Jam Black Betty comes up on random play…. She gets a good minute of the song before I sit down, log back in and turn the music off. (For some reason my music plays even when my computer sleeps). Uh what are you listening to? Ram Jam, Black Betty… Not a fan??? Maybe turn that down a tad OK… 😂

  18. I generally compartmentalize as well as anyone, and find it exhausting when other people can't do this. For instance, I have shit to do, lots of it because I have been in meetings all day, now I have to work. I don't dwell on unrelated problems i cannot attack now, I wait for when I can actually do something about them. The gf is stressed about issues where stress is reasonable, but the issues are nebulous and there is nothing I can help with now (except the happy endings that jsharrt thoughtfully suggested) and there is nothing she can do about her stressors at the moment, either. I listen, commiserate, divert with other things, the usual stuff, then tell her playtime is over after a reasonable interval and I have to work. Then she decides that she wants to talk about stuff that is currently a stressor for me, but is on the backburner until I can do something about it. I tell her I can't do anything about it right now except get more stressed the more she wants to talk about stuff that is for future RG to deal with. Geez. Do people not know that their stress travels?

  29. I met John the summer before 7th grade and we have been friends ever since. We shared so much life together when we were younger it was almost as if I had another brother. I won't get into all the crazy things we did together but many of them would of and should have landed us in jail for being just plain stupid. While I was in college, John was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident and spent the last 36 years of his life in a wheelchair. I remember my closest friend in the world calling to tell me about John. I fully expected John to die from his injuries, but he pulled through. His faith was and is greater than mine. I know I would be bitter facing what John faced, but I do not remember him complaining one single time. He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a laugh in his voice. No matter what John was going through, he was always gentle and caring. I remember going to visit him in the hospital and him asking how I was doing, not the other way around. John never lost his faith in God. No blaming, no questioning, just pure simple faith. And he was always willing to share his faith with others. He loved his friends and family in the way that God loved him. I take comfort today knowing that John is once again whole, and perfect and not suffering. I am going to miss my friend and I hope that I do a better job moving forward of cherishing my blessings, not focusing on the negative and just telling people that I care about them and love them like John always did for me.
