Popular Post ChrisL Posted April 17, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted April 17, 2021 The flooring guys said they would need to remove toilets to floor the bathrooms and if we wanted new toilets they’d put them in & haul away the old at no charge. So we got some new ones and I chose toilets that are about 2” higher than the others. I figured with my arthritic knees I could use the boost. Surprising how much difference a couple of inches makes! It is way easier on the knees, getting up is easier and other than crashing down hard the first time as I misjudged the height there really is no negative to having a taller toilet. Not sure if @Dirtyhip or @MickinMD have already picked toilets but definately something to keep in mind. 4

I replaced my terlet 6 years ago, and installed the higher model. Very worth it.

Not sorry.

"Comfort Height" is the new thing..as opposed to the older traditional "handicapped" toilet which was even taller... For what it is worth my 6ft tall aunt had a tall toilet..lived at her house for al.ost a year...and my feet never touch the ground while sitting on the throne I did not enjoy that. 1

In the last years in her house my grandmother had an extension that was aboot a foot high! You could use it as is or take it off. Neither was fun. JerrySTL ★ Posted April 17, 2021 Share #12 Posted April 17, 2021 Our master bathroom is being completely remodeled right now. We are replacing the tub with a walk-in shower and the toilet with a comfort model.

Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted April 18, 2021 Popular Post Share #14 Posted April 18, 2021 I changed toilets as my wife’s condition worsened. First I went to the taller toilets with a step stool for the grandkids. Them I added a adult commode with armrests over over the tall toilet. Grandkids were instructed to use the other bathroom. For the last 15 months she was bedridden and used a bedpan and a catheter and finally just used a disposable bed pad because she was unable to tell me when she had to go. It was actually easier for both of us than the bedpan. I know it’s TMI but that is the way it goes sometimes when life winds down. I was honored to be able to care for her when she couldn’t care for herself. 3 1
groupw Posted April 18, 2021 Share #15 Posted April 18, 2021 We put comfort height toilets in both our bathrooms when they were remodeled. We’d definitely do it again. Our house was built in 1975. The original vanities were very low too. Any ideas what the thinking was back then?
