No big event to go to, she just wanted to go out. She hasn't left the house without a compelling reason in at least 2 probably 3 years. She wanted to go to Walmart and drive the little buggy around the store. Years back she tried this, and displays toppled We took a ride up the ridge to an excellent pie shop, to get a pie for the company we're having tomorrow. Went to a beer distributor, to get beer for the company , And the biggie....... Went to a sit down restaurant for lunch, just the 2 of us. She hasn't been in a restaurant with less than half the family in years. We went at about 3 in the afternoon so there wasn't much crowd, rolled her in in the wheelchair, got comfortable at a table and enjoyed lunch She was getting tired by now and passed on going in Walmart, which was probably a good thing. All in all, a good day ?14 points

No worries, as you don't have children to chase around the parking lot. You're safe!7 points

Stopped at Hoover on the way in, did a small tour. Pretty cool. Vegas is far in the rear view mirror now. Went to Bryce, sadly only had a couple hours. Maybe we'll come back in a few years and do some hiking there. Stopping for dinner now, we'll get to Moab around midnight. No hookers for me. I have the best wife a guy could ask for.5 points

I walk Oden the Shedder over to the local park a block away. This afternoon we go walking over. He is pretty slow, but knows the route well because we walk over 2-3 times a day. Because he is slow & knows the route he walks off leash. So we go over this afternoon and walk. There is a kids pumpkin drawing party at the top area with a bunch of kids running hither & yon. So I leash him up. And keep him leashed as we round the corner going home. This might be where I unleash him as his pace picks up here...except today. As we walk around the corner here comes the Park & Rec patrol services....looking for dogs off leash. Whew...I'll keep $245 in my pocket *I think they give you a warning on your first crime4 points

And I can send you a thimbleful of Ruby's! You would find it cute how small her sheddings are. But they add up enough to require lots of vacuuming. Her special talent is to shed black hairs on white fabrics and white hairs on black fabrics.4 points

So it looks like we have this thing sorted out. Mild stroke as previously reported. They want him in the hospital a few more days for PT and cognitive therapy, basically get him safe to fly home and he can continue his recovery at home. Were all flying back to FL Wed, then WOChrisL and I are flying home Friday. He seems to be improving daily and should be in good shape by Wed. Kudos to Southwest Airlines for changing our flight at no additional charge!3 points

I hadn’t seen the Liberty Bell since I was in grade school. Independence Hall is the same as it ever was, but the Museum of the American Revolution and the Constitution Center were new for me. There was a Civil War and Reconstruction exhibit at the Constitution Center, but I was surprised at how much focus at the other sites was on slavery, too. That was an element of history mostly glossed over in earlier tributes to our Forefathers.3 points

I occasionally make homemade telescopes. I showed one to my Uncle Tom and he was impressed with the wooden and teflon parts. One day he came to my house with a small metal lathe. "This will help you make better telescope parts. Here's the deal," he said. "If you sell this before I die, this is mine. If you sell it after I die, it's yours." Uncle Tom is long gone, but I still have the lathe. I've used it to machine small parts like a threaded connecting piece with a square end to replace the identical thing that broke on my back porch aluminum/plexiglass awning. It's come in very handy from time to time in addition to telescope stuff.3 points

Son was being an idiot chasing his sister through a parking lot. Went to kick him in the ass and I missed and felt something pop. Hurt so bad I had to kick my wife out of the passenger seat and then regretted driving the convertible because it sits so low. Now I'm nursing a screwed up hamstring.2 points

I'll send you a bag of dog hair to spread throughout your home So you can remember him fondly You just learn to live with dog hair on your clothes, in your food, and on the furniture He got to stay over at a neighbors all day today as I went to a football game. Looks like he had a mild stroke that affected his vision and apparently short term memory. Otherwise he checked out OK. He seems to be more in tune with his surroundings, no confusion & asking repeatedly why he’s in the hospital. He needs to have an evaluation with PT but the Dr felt he could be released later today, tomorrow at the latest and it was OK for him to fly home.2 points

I'm assuming that's Kelvin. Ours is around 65°F year round. We pay market rates for electricity and it's very cheap after midnight. Therefore we set the AC low at night and cold soak the house in the Summer.1 point

I set the thermostat at 60 but then I like to bundle up in blankets and bed spread. Any temp higher than that has me shedding covers and opening windows to cool off. That's a different environment from the rooms I live in when not sleeping though. For some reason if I'm too warm while sleeping I have nightmares.1 point

The peppers I used in my hot pickles I picked from one of my hanging pots out on the deck. I can’t remember what kind they are. I have been growing them for years and they spend the winters in my spa room. They have a lot of heat.1 point
