Popular Post ChrisL Posted January 6, 2022 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 6, 2022 My coordinator mentioned to me that she wants to start riding for fun & exercise. She really doesn’t have money for a bike so I told her I’d look around for garage sale bikes & such. I could spot her some money if it was worth it. So I’m walking Jack the other night and find this bike on the street with a free sign! Wheels are true, brakes work, tires hold air but the shifters don’t work. The levers move freely. So I spray the levers down with WD40 and I get the rear detailure to work! And it shifts really nice! I got the front derailure to shift into the granny & middle chainring. Shoot good enough for a beginner. I was going to clean it up for her but then figured better to leave it crusty looking so it’s less attractive to a thief. Probably 90’s/early 00’s Spesh Rockhopper Comp. It looks like a Lg frame. She’s about 5’9” with long legs. I’m thinking the frame will work but the stem might be too long for her. Assuming we aren’t both quarantined I plan to give it to her tomorrow. 5 1 13
jsharr ★ Posted January 6, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2022 It has shocks! If only it had pegs she could take it over some sweet ramps! 1

Razors Edge ★ Posted January 6, 2022 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2022 Sweet! Seat is too low, but it'll work Several years ago, a woman who was a cyclist/tri-gal was moving, and she put a Specialized road bike out at the curb with a ton of other moving trash. I saw it when I came home, and went with my gut - "Ask the wife first!" - before grabbing it. Oops - by the time she said, "Whatever", it was gone. I talked to another neighbor and she was happy as a clam as SHE had grabbed the bike. I've never seen her ride it, but I still see it hanging in the garage.

TrentonMakes Posted January 6, 2022 Share #13 Posted January 6, 2022 My MTB is a Rockhopper from the same era, and I consider it one of the best purchases I have ever made - solid and problem-free (aside from problems I caused ). Great bike. She will love it - kudos to you.

12string Posted January 6, 2022 Share #17 Posted January 6, 2022 Cool! I think I may be selling the bike I won. Not for free. I'm not sure I'll use it all that much to be worth keeping around. A shame, it's a cool bike
