Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted May 3, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted May 3, 2019 Good morning, I am starting to feel closer to normal. Yesterday I even went out on the deck and sat in the fresh air for awhile. I got my hot tub up and running again but I’m not aloud in it yet. My son brought us some groceries yesterday and the two year old twin dudes and their three year old sister came along to cheer us up. They did a great job of it too. If feels so good to be home. The sponge baths were fun but I like my shower better. 7

late Posted May 3, 2019 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2019 Told ya. Part of my journey back to the land of the living was getting a used gym treadmill. YMMV, mine certainly does. 1

BuffJim Posted May 3, 2019 Share #11 Posted May 3, 2019 Vacation day here in the Windy City. Had a good time last night at Howl at the Moon, basically sing alongs and cover tunes. Not sure if these two snippets capture the atmosphere. Dinner was deep dish at Giordanos. Not bad. Today is lunch with my niece who lives here, and Red Sox White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field. 8337FD70-C3F4-4989-8D05-EE5D9DD69979.MOV

Longjohn ★ Posted May 3, 2019 Author Share #14 Posted May 3, 2019 My follow up appointment is on Tuesday. I’ll hope to get a better grip on what actually happened. Hernia surgery is not supposed to go like this.

The resident doctor that assisted with the surgery said it was caused by a mysterious drop in blood values that they found the cause on Tuesday evening when they visited me in my room and saw the IV drip going into my arm. They asked me why I was on that? I said:”I have no clue, you’re the doctor.” They immediately removed the IV and ordered two units of blood to get my values up to where they needed to be. I guess someone forgot to remove the drip after surgery and nobody noticed. It had diluted my blood to dangerous levels. 1
onbike1939 Posted May 4, 2019 Share #17 Posted May 4, 2019 Bloody hell...........well that's a bit much I have to say. No matter how we progress in medical science there always remains the human factor which can bugger everything up.
Airehead Posted May 4, 2019 Share #18 Posted May 4, 2019 Oh that was not a good thing at all. I suspect your doctor is excellent but follow through was poor. You should make sure the hospital knows how unhappy you were with the turn of events and what you except for future care for yourself or the MRS. In my opinion, that would be better than a lawsuit or something.

It is somewhat troubling that they left tubes, surgical instruments, and leaches inside you afterward, though.

It’s somewhat troubling that they had me on oxygen the whole time until the doctor asked me if I was on oxygen all the time at home too. I told him I had never been on oxygen before in my life. He told me to take it off.

Again, I restate my preference to be able for your survivors to sue, they clearly dropped the ball and almost offed you due to carelessness. If you died because of them, the grandkids, Mrs. Longjohn, and the kayak would be at the mercy of the 4 winds.
