Shrink the SW site tab to a fraction of full screen. The bulbs will disappear. The snow remains.

Freely navigate to the URL space, click tabs, refresh the page... 

And after you restore it to full screen, there is still a part without bulbs. 

You could run the Humbug theme, but then the snow disappears, too. 

I like the snow. It reminds me of better days.

The method I use is to have the browser window slightly smaller that full screen (not maximized).  Then you can just move the pointer around them over the top.

Some how, on my Mac, there is no noise, and that is just fine with me. If I feel the urge to break them, I know it is time to take a break and maybe a nap.

That solves the sound problem, but not the terror of sacrificing bulbs to an unstoppable inner mania. Sometimes I like a rest from the carnage. It’s a little game within a game.
