Very close to @Chris... and not too far from @Parr8hed . A 2 hour drive to Ohio might get me a better view, but I’m staying put. Robinson is 44 miles from us. Champaign is 72 miles from us and we go there quite often. My son lived there for 2 years.

Burque was in totality for last year’s annular eclipse, and 92% obscured is still a lot of sunlight. It was a little colder, but quite light outside. We are due for 78% coverage, but I’m not going to watch the whole three-hour process.
Chris... Posted April 8 Share #54 Posted April 8 Now I’m reading about panic buying because of the eclipse.
Popular Post groupw Posted April 8 Popular Post Share #55 Posted April 8 I called out because of the crud I’m dealing with. Plan to watch from home. Only about 63% at peak around 11:30. The high clouds out right now will hopefully thin a bit by then. Got to view 100% totality from work on the last 1, I think 7 years ago. My boss at the time called a “store meeting” so we wouldn’t be stuck on calls and we all watched in the parking lot. I managed to get this shot back then. I can see why anyone who didn’t understand astronomy would be shook. It’s an experience! 2

groupw Posted April 8 Share #57 Posted April 8 44 minutes ago, MoseySusan said: Did you use a filter, eclipse glasses over the camera lens, mirror? On this one, no. From my primary camera using a filter, I could tell light was going to be too low during totality. I had an older body that if sensor damage happened, I could live with it. I used the filter to position the tripod and focus then took off the filter. I pressed the shutter several times near the totality. This was the best. BTW - no sensor damage! 1
MickinMD ★ Posted April 8 Share #58 Posted April 8 I've got a couple hours of yardwork to do at 70° under near-cloudless skies and the eclipse begins in 9 minutes, so out in the yard I go!

a bunch of numbers Posted April 8 Share #65 Posted April 8 I just got done watching it outside of work. It definitely got darker out, the building lights came on. I wasn't going to bother with it, but I'm glad I went out. That was pretty cool.
bikeman564™ Posted April 8 Share #66 Posted April 8 Welp, that was cool we had 99.6% coverage and it got darker than I thought. Street lights were on, and temp dropped. Glad I seen it. It would be neat to see what a total coverage looked like.

smudge ★ Posted April 8 Share #73 Posted April 8 My crummy picture. Ah well, at least I got a little something of a pic. Just my cell phone through two welding helmet lenses. It was the very start with the lower right getting covered. We ended up with only a crescent 🌘 kinda like this!
sheep_herder ★ Posted April 9 Share #74 Posted April 9 Either inside the house or car watching it rain, at least during the times it is visible elsewhere. I've never tried to watch one, even when it is visible locally. Really never had any interest. However, I must admit watching a comet that was golden as the sun went down was pretty neat. Saw it driving to town. Thanks for sharing your photos.
smudge ★ Posted April 9 Share #75 Posted April 9 I was just reminded I could have adjusted the ISO on my camera on my phone. I'll try to remember for the 2044 eclipse!
