Longjohn ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2019 Put a bucket under the drip to catch it. You don’t want it running down threw your floor and ruining the garage.

On the plus side..I guess I will be painting my ceiling...that means kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway! They are open to each other. maddmaxx ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #6 Posted November 15, 2019 I feel bad for anyone with water issues in their kitchen. I can provide a list of contractors to avoid should you need one. Do you think that bucket is large enough to catch the ceiling? Sorry. Gallows humor is all I've got on this subject. 1
petitepedal ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted November 15, 2019 I've been tossing in bed for the last 45 minutes..skeered to go into my kitchen..oh yeah and turn on the oly light..other than the one on the stove...the one that had water in n it when I went to bed!
maddmaxx ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #8 Posted November 15, 2019 It's probably time to contact the head of the association to see what they plan on doing to rectify the problem. Did I really use rectify in a story about a light fixture full of water???? Unintentional I assure you. 1

bikeman564™ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #12 Posted November 15, 2019 Four years ago I had a roof leak on my condo that leaked in a spare bedroom. Was not fun. The association took care of everything except paint. Good luck w/ the repairs.
maddmaxx ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #13 Posted November 15, 2019 I remember arriving at work one day during a very heavy storm. It was about 4am and no one was there. Some of the suspended ceiling tiles were sagging over the electronics equipment in the lab. I rushed around and covered everything with plastic sheets from a roll. 20 minutes after I finished the ceiling gave way but the equipment stayed dry. Somehow the water on your ceiling will have to be removed. If it isn't there will surely be mold later. As for the ceiling itself
Longjohn ★ Posted November 15, 2019 Share #14 Posted November 15, 2019 On the bright side the drywall will filter out the tp and the solids so they won’t be dropping on you. 1
donkpow Posted November 15, 2019 Share #15 Posted November 15, 2019 I have poked a hole in the drywall to control drip location and let the ceiling drain. --I should add that it sounds like the ceiling drywall is soaking up the water from above. ---Not a good thing. Tea is going to stain the ceiling. I would scrape off the popcorn, bed and tape the seam, apply compound, sand, primer and then reapply the popcorn. shootingstar Posted November 15, 2019 Share #26 Posted November 15, 2019 This is hard. I can attest to challenges of water problems when my dishwasher malfunctioned, the water went through 6 other suites beneath me. This happened in spring. Yes, my home insurance premium went up. Water problems in a condo is a VERY different challenge than living in a house. Hope your strata insurance can cover this well. Our building at least was fortunate enough to retain a trustworthy good contractor for major repairs. The firm knows our building well. You must act asap to remove the damaged floor or roof that caused your ceiling to buckle. Otherwise mould will start to grow .. They tore up my damaged floor 8 hrs. after the leak. That's how fast and good the contractor was.
