Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted September 7, 2021 Popular Post Share #1503 Posted September 7, 2021 16 miles on the flat trail. My Garmin quit reading my heart rate. I got out another chest strap I had to see if the battery in the strap was dead. It didn’t work with that strap either. I put a fresh battery in my strap I had, it wasn’t that. I rode a little faster today not knowing my heart rate. I had a headwind both ways. How is that even possible? The Garmin chest strap has the battery screwed in with four tiny screws with a goofy head that I didn’t have a screw driver to fit. I need that heart rate monitor to work. I hope I don’t have to send it back to Garmin.
Popular Post Mr. Beanz Posted September 7, 2021 Popular Post Share #1504 Posted September 7, 2021 40 easy spin miles with Gina today. Well, mostly! 15.8 average speed. I offered 30 miles figuring I could test my new cable job (perfect btw) after yesterday's cable snap. But one we got on the road, Gina said she could do 40 if I held the pace down. Well darn, I was looking for the easy ride but who am I to stop her from getting in the miles. So we continued passed our usual 30 mile point on the trail heading inland to Imperial Hwy. Pretty easy ride but got pretty windy near the coast. Gina asked if she could get in front for a bit to help out. Nah! She hasn't been doing long mileage lately so I told her to stay in the back saving energy to complete the ride comfortably. That's the kind of guy I am he he he! So turned out to be a nice ride with a nice tailwind back. Heading inland to the finish, Gina did get a little hot but finished well. Heck, when she asks for longer mileage, that's a good thing! Arriving at the trailhead. Gina's IT'S ALREADY HOT face! Toe touch challenge. She didn't do too well but hey, she's 59. Nice spin today. Pre ride, but didn't really want to leave the AC. Imperial Hwy offramp. Stinky breaktime. Smelt like a sewer. Better find a new place ha ha ha! Happy at the coast Loves me a woman who works hard enough to drip sweat down the back. 6

I am guessing the battery should last at least 6 months

I got out my magnifying glass and held it in the sunlight and saw why none of them fit. I think I had one of those screwdrivers. It came in a set. I never used it, don’t know where it went. I thought maybe they shipped me a chest strap that had been on the shelf too long and the battery was almost dead when I got it. What else could it be? Welcome to my area, where the wind can shift 180 degrees on a ride while you are riding. It happens a lot more than I care for. 34 miles, 86-84 degrees, 10-15 mph winds, sunny with smoke.

Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted September 11, 2021 Popular Post Share #1531 Posted September 11, 2021 44 miles today, the first half in the rain Temperature was around 64° my brother calls these things squeezers, I should bring a tape measure sometime and measure them. They are evidently randomly spaced. Some are tighter than this and som are higher than your handlebars those are the ones that make me nervous. I move my hand in going through the tall ones. This was the darkest place on earth. Ha ha, not anymore with my new light. 5
Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted September 11, 2021 Popular Post Share #1532 Posted September 11, 2021 It lights up the tunnel if I aim it higher but if anyone else is coming through the tunnel it blinds them. The first two things I saw on the trail today were coming at me in the tunnel. The first was a kid on a bike pedaling slow with a bright light. I was glad when I got past him. The second thing was a golf cart I think. It had a bunch of bright lights on it and I was pretty much blinded by them. It had four wheels and at least two guys in it, they were talking to each other. It had an electric motor it was about a half hour later I saw a girl on a bike it’s weird all that time with the trail to myself and I get to a tunnel and there they are blinding me. The next three passes through the tunnels I was by myself.
