The SWC 2021 Daily and Total Mileage Thread

Recommended Posts

Just for the fun of it, we would like to make a small change in the way we record our daily ride, run, and walk mileage.  Instead of posting a separate thread each day, we will post all our activity in this one thread and in so doing, it will be possible to keep a running tally of our total forum activity and mileage.  We can then set goals and have loads of fun trying to meet those goals.  It is important, therefore, that beginning Jan 1, all activity be recorded here and that members avoid starting any separate mileage threads.

All that is required is that you post your activity as we always have.  One of us will come along and edit this post to indicate the totals for each category.  We'll also put a little note in your post indicating we've added it to the totals so we can keep track.  In this way, we can easily and simply keep track of our total forum activity and progress throughout the year.  It should be fun, informative and might even engender a spirit of teamwork.  :)

I’ll go first. 25 miles, 1,000 feet climbed. Just beat the rain. Saw a replica of the White House today. It was originally hidden behind an house that they recently tore down.  <ad

10 today on the KHS. 32 degrees today; not sure i could have done much more at that temp. My body is fine but there's no way to warm up the air I'm sucking into my lungs.  By my count I'm at 63 m

I did some research when I was home and learned that there are two within five miles of each other. One in McLean on Georgetown Pike and this one on Towlston Rd. Built in 1995, it took five years to design and build. Almost 14,000 square feet with six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an Oval Office, Truman balcony, an elevator and 22 skylights. Sold for $2.2 million in November 2018. The address is 1111 Towlston Rd McLean VA

That's amazing!  I can't imagine why this has never received any coverage or stories in the national news.  If it has, I missed it.  Would be an interesting light-hearted story for 60 Minutes or some other news magazine show.

Sorry for drifting off-topic, but those pictures blew my mind!  :o

I will try.  This will be harder for me, as my device that I used to track is broken.

2020 has not been tracked so well, cause I only have my phone to track.  My battery is not super healthy either.

I don't record mileage anymore.  I'm trying to avoid competition.

On a side note, my mileage should be pretty good.  My commute doubled in length, so it will be a mandatory 50 miles a week.  I rode down the wet and slushy icy hill yesterday, and it wasn't too bad.  When I lose the shoulder it will be problematic.   It is really narrow up this one section of the commute to get back up to the lot.  It's really steep, and not a lot of space.  It's a short section

That’s like 2 months of riding for me! 😂 I’m down, I have my new Garmin & am tracking miles better now.

2020 was a total cycling bust for me. I doubt I got 400 miles for the year.

No ride today, but did take Sadie for a walk/run in the rain.  I’m pooped!

This is a great idea. Count me in. No rides for tje new year. Had a pleasant NYE with the wife and settled down around 1am. Then the toddler wakes up and comes to our bed, wide awake, until about 3:30. I usually do predawn rides so a 4:30am ride was a no thank you.

I got 10.4 on the fattie today. First time on it since the crash and Covid. I was pretty tentative on the hard pack but it was much better than the glazed surface a few weeks ago.

Not too many miles today.  It was sleeting/snowing/icing. etc...  We drove to one of our usual places to walk the dogs.  WoBG got out of the Subaru and found out she needed ice skates, and since she didn't have them, she fell over in the parking lot and bounced off of the car.  :(   She's OK.  Just sore.... tomorrow we will see.

So we go home, and I took the dogs for a walk in the neighborhood.  Bruno decided she didn't like walking in the sleet, and she just stopped walking.  I got a huge total of 0.2 miles today walking the dogs.

Last year we walked almost every day.  I only started tracking our walks starting on 8/13/20, when I started using my Garmin watch, and I tracked 312.8 miles walking.

Not a great year cycling, only 606.4 miles in 2020.  Most of the riding was on our tandem.  I'm sure we walked more than we rode our bikes.

I don't know how often I'll contribute, but I'll try.

My annual New Year's Day ride was only 15 miles. It was nasty and raining all day here.  And do dog walks count?  I can add 1.75 miles to that.  Again, it was raining and gross out.

12.5 miles on the fat bike. A little cool, but I wanted to ride before the gravel got too soggy!

1-2-21    WoBG and I walked the dogs 2.1 miles on the I&M Canal Trail.   Parker got to bark at another dog again.   I've never had a dog that HATES other dogs. The best part...  we stopped and talked to the guy with the dog.  After a little while... "Hey your dog doesn't have teeth!"    Yeah, Parker will gum your dog to death.

Yeah we noticed that when we rescued him 1 year ago. He only has a few molars in the back so at least he can eat solid food.   I have NO idea why anyone would have most of the dogs teeth removed. :(  He's 13 now.

The 20# killer dog with no front teeth.                                                                                                        <added>

OMG!  I think my watch is alive. It was being an ass, but I just plugged in and tried again, and it looks like it is charging.

Game on.  :loveshower:

2 hour ski and a 2 hour fatbike ride. We rode to the top of Ferrins. I couldn't believe we made it so I made a snow angel.

The descent was a blast. I skidded around every corner like a kid on a BMX bike.

I think this is an amazing idea.  I honestly can't wait to see the total amount of distance covered at the end of this year.

Today's Dog walk - 3.21 miles.

22 on the road bike. 38 with a light SW wind to push me home. I had to ride the sidewalk for a few blocks to get past the snow covered streets in the neighborhood.
I don’t know why cycling in Nebraska is January isn’t more popular...
