Further Posted October 25, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2019 My Peugeot UE 8 was my favorite, all time bicycle. Bought in 1972, sold in 74. Many adventures in those 2 years Mine was white, just like this one, but I had a huge leather underseat bag, it held a six pack plus the tire repair stuff, and there was a frame pump, under the top tube I think.
late Posted October 25, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2019 Gunnar Sport. Changed my life, that's the bike I rode across Italy. This bike should be one of the best selling bikes in the country, it's that good. http://gunnarbikes.com/site/bikes/sport/ 1
Ralphie ★ Posted October 25, 2019 Share #3 Posted October 25, 2019 My current road bike, a 2006 Felt F1C. It is way better than me. I am not even close to worthy. Second is my previous bike, a gorgeous BLUE 1988 Raleigh Technium with white fork. All aluminum.

Wilbur ★ Posted October 25, 2019 Share #5 Posted October 25, 2019 My Lynskey R230 but I also really liked my Sp. Roubaix. I also really liked my UE8 when I was a kid. Sadly, it was destroyed in my first crash with a car.
ChrisL Posted October 25, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 25, 2019 My 1st real bike, 1982 Gazelle Champion Mondial with Campy Super Record. I rode the shit out of that bike for about 10 years and raced it from 82-84 before retiring it. It’s hanging in the rafters to be restored someday. The bikes I ride are usually my dream bikes. We tend to buy what we want. There is no reason to do otherwise.

JerrySTL ★ Posted October 26, 2019 Share #13 Posted October 26, 2019 1978 Raleigh Grand Prix. I put a ton of miles on that bike. Unfortunately around 1990 I noticed some stress fractures on the top tube. Next was my 2000 Trek 5200. Many more miles on that bike including things like double centuries. First carbon fiber bike. I even learned about Tenkara from Miker.

I have had it on paved roads, gravel roads, sand national forest fire roads, single track and even frozen lakes with the studded tires. There are times I would take another bike if it is available but if I could only have one there is no question in my mind what it would be. The stress fractures on my bike were little bumps in the paint of the top tube near the head tube. I sanded the paint down to the metal and could see the very tiny parallel cracks. I hate to think of what would have happened if it snapped during a ride.

Forum Administrator Posted October 29, 2019 Share #23 Posted October 29, 2019 I was thinking about posting about my 1988 Trek 820, but then I remembered my Sigma. You can laugh all you want, but I got the Sigma about the same time my parents started letting me go off on my own. Riding around the neighborhood quickly became riding around town, which led to riding farther and farther distances.
