Airehead Posted July 5, 2021 Share #3 Posted July 5, 2021 No but we are already hearing some. Some people are idiots. Mercy Flight just raced over the house on its way to the hospital. I wondered if alcohol or fireworks were involved.

BuffJim Posted July 5, 2021 Share #9 Posted July 5, 2021 It sounds like the 4th of July out there. My craziest July 4th was in Aspen Colorado at the city park, around 1983. People crammed together waiting for the official show to begin and shooting off every imaginable explosive without regard for life nor limb.
AirwickWithCheese Posted July 5, 2021 Share #10 Posted July 5, 2021 Edgar and I are curled up in the bedroom with windows down and three fans running listening to Foxes and Fossils. I think Parker is next door with the hippies from California listening to rock roll music, drinking spritzers, and shooting fireworks. 2

Popular Post Allen ★ Posted July 5, 2021 Popular Post Share #15 Posted July 5, 2021 Yeah. A couple of the neighbors came over with their kids. We blowed up shit real good. We shot a bunch Roman candles, and stuff. And for the finale we hooked the fuses to six “box-o-fireworks,” set them in the Jon boat, and pushed it out into the pond. That was cool. You get the reflection too. The roll of firecrackers the size of a five gallon bucket leaves a hell of a mess. And if you chuck a mortar out in the yard like a grenade instead of launching it from the tube, it’ll burn a frisbee sized hole in the grass down to the dirt. Oh, then there was the deck fire. One of the kids threw a sparkler under the deck and caught the dust on fire. Fortuitously the garden hose was right there. The biggest kick the kids had for the night was shooting bottle rockets into the pond so they blow up under water. You can feel the thump through the ground. That thrilled them. 2

Longjohn ★ Posted July 5, 2021 Share #24 Posted July 5, 2021 I lived between Hillsville and Bessemer, Pa. in the late eighties. That is actually where these fireworks companies are located. New Castle, PA is officially known as the “Fireworks Capital of America”. Each year we host a large Fireworks Festival in honor of this. Two nationally recognized companies are credited with making New Castle, PA the “Fireworks Capital of America” – Zambelli Fireworks Internationale and Pyrotecnico both got their start in the mid 1800’s in Lawrence County (which was once the largest producer of fireworks in the world.) ZAMBELLI FIREWORKS INTERNATIONALE Proudly known as the “First Family of Fireworks,” Zambelli is one of the oldest and largest fireworks companies in America. Today, the family name is synonymous with quality, creativity and safety. The magic of Zambelli pyrotechnics has been televised around the world, on “MSNBC Investigates”, the Odyssey Network, the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel and the British Broadcasting Company. Fireworker Antonio Zambelli ventured from Italy in 1893 to establish the Zambelli Fireworks Manufacturing Company in New Castle Pennsylvania, which was to become a center for America’s fireworks industry. Building on the grand tradition Antonio began, subsequent generations of Zambellis are now known worldwide for setting the industry standard in design and technology — then exceeding it. The dreams, dedication and precision infused into the business by Antonio have been passed on from father to sons and daughters to the fourth generation of Zambelli children, who now carry on the family tradition. Our family and our year-round professional staff of technicians, designers, office staff and administrators are here to assist and guide you in the development and implementation that is specific for your firework’s event. With both outdoor and indoor extravaganzas, Zambelli Fireworks has changed the face of the fireworks industry. For more information call 1-800-245-0397 or 1-800-860-0955. PYROTECNICO (Vitale) It all began with Constantino Vitale when he founded his fireworks company in 1889. A company that for more than a century passed on the rare art of pyrotechnics from generation to generation, from Italy to America. In 1922, the Vitale Fireworks Mfg. Co. was incorporated in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and quickly became one of America’s premier fireworks manufacturers. Now this 100-year tradition and art have been enhanced with the innovations of a new generation of the Vitale family. According to its president Stephen J. Vitale, “Pyrotecnico will continue to set the standard for pyrotechnic excellence throughout the U.S. and the world.” Tradition, creativity, innovation and technology are the ingredients that will help Pyrotecnico paint the heavens with light and sound for generations to come. Producing over 2,000 displays this past year, Pyrotecnico is one of America’s largest and fastest growing fireworks companies. For more information call 1-800-854-4705. groupw Posted July 5, 2021 Share #25 Posted July 5, 2021 We hung out with friends whose backyard is normally a good viewpoint for the Fonner Park fireworks show. For some reason, their biggest sponsor backed out late enough they couldn't get another sponsor to help them purchas fireworks. Their neighborhood is a war zone that night. There is a street a few blocks away that puts on a ridiculous coordinated show. We can walk to a pasture a couple blocks away and get a good view. We left about 10:30 because I work today. Our city has a midnight curfew on fireworks, but things were still going off until around 12:30. Lots of shrapnel in the streets on my ride to work this morning.
