In yesterday's experience with the ____E, NOVEL would have been a good second word, so I decided to use it today.  Still not a bad choice.

Drat!  I had to use HOTEL just to show you that no good idea goes unstolen.   Alas, it was for NAUGHT, which BTW I definitely would have to keep in the ole toolbag if it had 5 letters that is.

Maybe, since this is specifically designed to be a competition, we could withhold the awarding of “solution” until some of the daytime players get their entries in?

I always do solution as a running thing and move it along as needed, well, most of the time anyhoo!  Mr young and needy as soon as you arise.

You should run a poll. I think it’s bad optics for a competition to have a winner announced while the vast majority of entries have not yet been submitted. I still anticipate a 2 yet to come.

Thankfully RR is the boss of this one so I can say it is snot my monkey or circus. Yay!

Ok, it’s still bad optics and makes less sense than during my initial reaction. I’d now DOUBLY recommend it be removed.

More of a comparison than a competition.  I initiated the "solution" with my initial post to get the check mark on the title, which makes the thread stand out from the other topics.  But I changed it to your post, until someone posts a two.

Mine’s not the solution, yours was before mine in the same attempts. But in the future, I’d withhold awarding a solution until later in the day. I’m not sure the green check mark is worth it, tbh.

OK, I forgot to use the starting word but in my defense I was up at 4:30 with a sick dog.

 Once I got the E in the middle I figured it was likely to be a double letter word.

I shouldn't have used toner as a second word since I already knew the "r" wasn't active, but I'm so used to ADIEU as a starting word, I forgot all about the "r" already being in "arisee"
