12string Posted April 21, 2023 Share #103 Posted April 21, 2023 Are you insulating the ceiling? Is the door to the cab going away? And where's the bike rack? Shouldn't that get installed FIRST?

The boards are as level as it is gonna get. There are no raised up lips or uneven boards. Everything is pretty level but the van won't always be level. 6 minutes ago, 12string said: Are you insulating the ceiling? Is the door to the cab going away? And where's the bike rack? Shouldn't that get installed FIRST? Yes, no, the bike rack will be in the garage. I really like the bulkhead. This piece will help us stay safe in a possible accident. We are not removing it. There was a bit of a change from the Ford van layout.
Dirtyhip Posted April 22, 2023 Author Share #105 Posted April 22, 2023 More stooping today. We need to putty up the knots and gaps to prep for floor. We tried to find the best piece of plywood. Some of the pieces were worse than what we found. It rained again last night, so we need to be careful going inside the van. We wish we had a proper indoor space to work on this vehicle. It is way too tall for our garage.

Popular Post Dirtyhip Posted April 22, 2023 Author Popular Post Share #108 Posted April 22, 2023 All puttied up under the floor. We filled in all the gaps that we could. Went through a whole container of putty. It seems level. @Wilbur Thanks for the reminder. I am exhausted and tired. The roller needs a lot of pressure. I think it came out well. 6

The car is probably worth more than if we just did the Transit. The dealership locally still hasn't given us our deposit back. I asked for it three weeks ago. I am so glad we didn't buy a van from them. They are terrible.

Each chore will result in a great adventure. Thanks. It wasn't super easy like click together floor. Putty t even out knots and make it smooth and all flat. The the subfloor was countersunk. I really had a hard time learning the feel of the driver. I kept stripping them and then you have to pull that dead one out, predrill a new hole and then screw it down. One the floor was all prepped, mark the centerline on the roll and the floor. Then put glue on half of the floor to the centerline. The floor roll was then rolled toward the wall on the glue side. I used a lino roller to get the bubbles out. That was the hardest part. Bent over, pushing that roller on the floor and to the wall. Then repeat on the other side. There are no bubbles. Next step framing for the max fans, and windows. I am very nervous about this next section. I kept lots of cardboard to put on the new floor, while we build the rest. Ripping or damaging the new floor would be horrible. I think a piece of cardboard over the panels until it is ready for hookup would be good too. Those things generate power the moment they see sun. The walk area is all one piece of plywood, except there is a seam at the entry of the garage. The bed sits directly over it, so it won't be so much of a walkway but an access hatch to the garage. 4
