Page Turner Posted December 1, 2019 Share #3 Posted December 1, 2019 ...took me about three weeks before I stopped getting headaches and another few weeks before the ocular migraines subsided. But I drank a lot of coffee at the time I stopped.

Longjohn ★ Posted December 1, 2019 Share #7 Posted December 1, 2019 I didn’t get any headaches. My wife claims if she has one caffeinated drink she gets a headache the next day. She must think she is a millennial.

Honest answer, it took about 5 days for me. I was drinking about 8 cups of coffee and 4 Monsters a day too..
Square Wheels Posted December 1, 2019 Share #9 Posted December 1, 2019 I have 1 cup of tea a day I have so few culinary pleasures. If you try to take that from me, I will stab you in the eye with a rusty fork. 1 1

The first day is tough, the second is easier, and then gone. But the urge is still there. I find it best not to give it up.
Ralphie ★ Posted December 2, 2019 Share #11 Posted December 2, 2019 It's been decades, but I think it was short if any, a few days or so, and it was well worth it. I don;t miss it a bit.
ChrisL Posted December 2, 2019 Share #12 Posted December 2, 2019 I gradually weened myself off it once. It took a couple of days. It didn’t last tho and a year later I was hooked again.

late Posted December 2, 2019 Share #15 Posted December 2, 2019 I had to give up coffee, but tea is much gentler on your system. Have a cuppa. If you want to have a little caffeine and have it be good for you, try green tea. I will warn you, there is a learning curve there. If you want to try that, we can talk. In the meantime, a decent supermarket will have PG Tips. https://www.amazon.com/PG-Tips-Original-Pyramid-Britain/dp/B00HWX26G4/ref=pd_sbs_325_t_1/147-2350253-3563614?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00HWX26G4&pd_rd_r=7b4cbef9-d3aa-4bd2-bfe6-d457db1cd935&pd_rd_w=XTiwS&pd_rd_wg=xuZBN&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=HPW1A7MK5DSRQ04DMS5X&psc=1&refRID=HPW1A7MK5DSRQ04DMS5X

It's one of several great things I have to give up like salt, bacon, hot dogs etc.

Kzoo Posted December 2, 2019 Share #18 Posted December 2, 2019 The last time I did it I was drinking about 4 to 6 cups a day and it went real easy. I never got any headaches but there was a slothness (more so than normanl) that I had to get over.

For me it was at least 2 weeks and my headaches were more than dull. Back it the '80's, the very popular eat-mostly-carbs Pritikin Promise diet called for cutting out caffeine. Eventually, I read where those consuming a moderate amount of caffeine lived longer (they may have changed that now) and gladly went back to coffee.
