Razors Edge ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2020 ...for not getting your hair cut as an adult? No trimming. No nothing. Just letting the hair grow. I'm at least 6 months in and can see rolling with this another six, since I have no big "events" in the upcoming future to clean up for. Maybe a job interview or two if I get my ass in gear for that, but otherwise, no weddings and hopefully no funerals on the horizon.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2020 I have very little left, but when it grows out more than three weeks, it gets annoying. A Wahl razor and #1 guard takes care of it. I’ve grown beyond caring how it looks; it’s all about me.
Zephyr Posted September 3, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2020 6-8 weeks, max, and that would have been with starting with a shaved head. We have grooming standards. I did one time during a covert course go 7 weeks without shaving. It was bad. Like "someone with an okay beard going through chemo" bad
Longjohn ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2020 I went three years or so in the early seventies. It’s been nine months this year. I will probably have a funeral coming up soon. I don’t know what I’ll do for that.
Kzoo Posted September 3, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2020 Define adult. In the early - mid 70's, probably a year or more. I HAD red hair. Picture Shawn White (pre hair cut) and you have an idea. Skinny red head with more hair than brains (me not him).
jsharr ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #6 Posted September 3, 2020 I keep mine short these days. When I was younger I went a few years without a real haircut. Would get it cleaned up now and then, but it was well past my shoulders.
Reverend_Maynard Posted September 3, 2020 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2020 A bit over 10 years. Working on another run of almost 10 years now.

I am due.
Mr. Silly Posted September 3, 2020 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2020 Probably 6 months. It starts getting uncomfortable after 3.
ChrisL Posted September 3, 2020 Share #10 Posted September 3, 2020 As a teen I had surfer hair and was proud of it. I can’t stand my hair touching my ears or neck so I keep it pretty tight and fortunately have a nephew who cuts hair!
Allen ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #11 Posted September 3, 2020 I went from January to July this year because of covid. My bangs reached my chin. A couple years ago I went properly long for the first time ever just to know what my hair looks like long. My bangs reached my collar bone before I gave up on the experiment. Mid shoulder blade for the back.
bikeman564™ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #12 Posted September 3, 2020 Between 4-5 months and it sucked. Our idiot governor closed down barbers so I had to get a cut in Ohio...thankfully that wonderful state was open for business.
JerrySTL ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #13 Posted September 3, 2020 4 months earlier this year. Joining the military at 18 YO and staying in for 24 years meant that I seldom went more than a month without a haircut. Many people leave the military and let their hair grow long while others keep their hair close to regulation. I'm in the later category

donkpow Posted September 3, 2020 Share #15 Posted September 3, 2020 Oh gawd. You just had to bring it up, didn't you? So the pandemic has forced me into cutting my own hair. No problem. When I was riding more, I was cutting it myself fairly often. The last couple of years, I have been getting it cut at the barber college. You know, the 20 somethings on the search for a perpetual party? So I have been cutting it myself. Trying to do a good job, which takes like an hour or a day, I can't remember which. I finally built up a good head of steam to cut my hair this week. Got my stuff out and went at it. While trimming the rear of my scalp, the guide fell off the clipper. I didn't realize it until the guide fell into the sink. Shit! Now I am running around with skin exposed to daylight that hasn't experienced such for more than two days of my whole life.

At that point, just take it down all over. Start with a clean slate. I've debated the shaved head route vs the never cut it route. I may let it grow a while longer and then go the full opposite direction and shear it all off. Maybe a mohawk for a few days before shaving it completely would rock.

Could also take advantage of the lack of hair to get a few tattoos that will be covered when the hair comes back. Maybe a racy drawing????
MickinMD ★ Posted September 3, 2020 Share #19 Posted September 3, 2020 Back when I was a long-haired hippie in college, I probably went a year at some point. Since then, it's probably been 3-4 months sometimes.
