groupw Posted July 27, 2022 Share #1006 Posted July 27, 2022 17.4 on the Stradalli at sunset. Raining when I woke up this morning so I waited until after supper and the evening commuters were done. At one point I was catching 2 kids riding on the sidewalk-one on a BMX bike, the other a Briggs and Stratton style mini bike. As I was catching them (I was on the bike lane in the street) I heard the kid on the mini bike say “Watch this” and he hit the throttle. I shifted up a gear and went into sprint mode. Great weather with mid-70s F temps, little wind, overcast, and just a few drops of rain. Half of the roads were very smooth. Hundreds of pelicans were getting ready to fly away. I'm able to run again, lightly, and can do HIIT workouts. Been focusing on strengthening the hips with squats, mountain climbers, and lunges. Oh so many, many lunges. The upside to these is my legs have never been stronger and more reactive when I do test a run. I've had to temper my expectations quite a bit as I have more power than the hip flexor can support right now. (the ride I'd considered would have been under 3 hours but I'm sure it would have taken me out of commission for the entire day... lots of climbing) Got out for 22 miles yesterday - my avg speed was not fast, though I practically touched 40mph at one point. Somehow Strava reported that I burned 4,840 calories on this ride? (I wish) Looks like my last post messed up my YTD total, which stands at 629.
