Popular Post Page Turner Posted May 18, 2019 Popular Post Share #3 Posted May 18, 2019 ... new toilets don't cost that much at the Home Depot. When you think about how much you use a toilet, they're a real bargain. Those higher level toilets for the aged and infirm don't allow me to get my full squat on, which leads to an unpleasant and sub-optimal pooping experience. I give them a full two thumbs down.

Longjohn ★ Posted May 18, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 18, 2019 Two bolts, how bad can it be? They are thin bolts too. If they really won’t come loose cut them off with a hack saw or angle grinder. Hardware store is well stocked with toilet bolts and gaskets.
Longjohn ★ Posted May 18, 2019 Share #7 Posted May 18, 2019 I have a perfectly good toilet on my front porch you can have. Esther wanted the taller toilet in both bathrooms. Now that’s not even tall enough so I have handicap toilet over the tall toilet. It has hand grips on it. I was thinking about going full redneck and planting flowers in the one on the front porch. 1

Add $1.50 for a wax ring. Your part time maintenance friend can swap that out in less than a half hour. In the same time he could grind the bolts and replace the flapper valve assembly for $20.
Further Posted May 19, 2019 Share #23 Posted May 19, 2019 I know I payed less than a hundred for a toilet, takes an hour to install. I'm going to poop in it, fancy really doesn't matter PS if you have ever worked construction you know that poopin can be done in adverse conditions.... 1

donkpow Posted May 19, 2019 Share #28 Posted May 19, 2019 Sorry I'm late. As far as I can tell from the description of the problem, all you need is a tank gasket kit. Or a new maintenance man. $5.00 from Lowes: 3

Wilbur ★ Posted May 20, 2019 Share #32 Posted May 20, 2019 Biggest problem with a diy gasket replacement is cracking the tank. Especially in older tanks. A handyman can easily do this job. A good handyman won’t crack the tank..

They also come with directions, women read directions. They are like a recipe. Petite doesn’t have any trouble following directions. If the toilet doesn’t have any other issues I say she should go with the gasket kit. Ask the friendly folks at Ace Hardware, they will guide you through it.

You are supposed to flush the turds out of them and remove any remaining water before you remove the old toilet.
