smudge ★ Posted April 27, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2022 This WAS a real nice wool blanket from HoSmudge's folks' house. He put it in his shed at camp, and the squirrels got to it. Do you think I could mend it? I'd hate to toss it. Suggestions? 1

Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted April 27, 2022 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2022 Let's just say I wouldn't expect the squirrels (present company excepted!) to be toilet trained... I, with regrets, would toss it.
Longjohn ★ Posted April 27, 2022 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2022 Holy blankets that would take a lot of patching.

Wilbur ★ Posted April 27, 2022 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2022 Sorry for the loss. Urine soaked wool is the worst!
Zealot Posted April 27, 2022 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2022 Mrs Z would salvage what’s still usable and repurpose it.

ChrisL Posted April 27, 2022 Share #9 Posted April 27, 2022 I’d toss it but the lower section and the left section on the image looks salvageable. Pieces from the upper section could patch the smaller holes. Not sure what you would do with a blanket that small though.
Kirby Posted April 27, 2022 Share #10 Posted April 27, 2022 Do you quilt? If so, I'd cut some patches out of the blanket and use it in a quilt. If you don't want that big of a project, you could quilt a pillow. Or if you have some nice pics of the family, you could do a frame with some of the pictures of his family/house etc, with a piece of the blanket and maybe something else of sentimental value.

If the wool was thicker, would suggest sitting cushions, but that looks abit sad and thin. Headbands or light cap? You might need to line it. Then I would use the rest as rags. Do dogs like wool blanket material? I'm not a pet person. I dunno...use it as a liner.

Ralphie ★ Posted April 28, 2022 Share #14 Posted April 28, 2022 Even a cheap bastard like me would say toss it. But I guess you could use it as rags if you are so inclined.

petitepedal ★ Posted April 28, 2022 Share #16 Posted April 28, 2022 You could make a triangle shawl/wrap for shoulders using the one end..with very little patching...patch it and bind the edges in a contrasting color or patterned wool.

Best idea. I was thinking vest, but shawl is more versatile.
