It's crowded, dark, and except for the aforementioned lady asses, seems to have little redeeming charm. 12string Posted December 3, 2019 Share #56 Posted December 3, 2019 I don't get it how this kind of stuff gets twisted around to guys being selfish, thoughtless gift givers. He probably had that lingerie all picked out for her, but being thoughtful, realized she would be insulted that it was a size 1 and would be MUCH happier about how she looked in a size zero, so being generous he spent thousands to buy her a Peloton. It's all about understanding her feelings, he's a great husband!

I have found that most spin instructors are like this, except in Boulder. Dave Scott subbed for a sick instructor once, that was kind of cool. That said, I think most spin classes suck. The instructors suck, play horrible music too loudly, and have you do things no real rider would EVER do on a bike. When I was in spin classes, I would sit in the back and do my own ride, stand when I want to stand, sit when I want to sit, and frown and shake my head when they want you to do "jumps" or invitation-to-injury stretches and the like. 1

We always had good instructors that some of us cycled with on the good days. I totally agree, the music usually sucks, and yes, I rode my own ride, and skipped the radical moves some proposed. I faded away when they stopped letting us use our own pedals and saddles. 1 1

I think a big challenge is that you all are failing to separate "spinning" from "cycling". They are two different animals with two different goals & designs. If you want indoor "cycling", that's gonna be more in-line with a Zwift or trainer session. If you want a cardio workout that is similar - but definitely different - you do a spin class. If you just want to ride an indoor "cycling-related" piece of equipment, you don't do a spin class or a Zwift ride, you just pick whatever piece of equipment they have that sort of resemble riding and do that.

Page Turner Posted December 6, 2019 Share #79 Posted December 6, 2019 First of all, for those of you who joked that she went from a “size two to a sweatier size two,” you just show how ignorant you are. Courtnee is a size 4, okay, and it’s not cool to make fun of someone’s weight problem. She’s really been struggling with the extra six pounds she gained when she was pregnant with Sawyer. Ever since, she’s been battling serious sugar cravings (probably because of her Candida overgrowth). So what if when she’s feeling really carby she binges with a few rice cakes? Yes, once a month she splurges on a Stevia and camel milk latte—but she feels so guilty after. The Peloton is helping her and you shouldn’t judge her journey. Anyway, if you were paying attention to the vlog, you’d see that her Peloton took the place of her dining room table. If that’s not conquering your demons, I don’t know what is... Worst of all, people made fun when she said she was “a little nervous, but excited” about her first ride. Listen, Courtnee has a serious condition called “stationary bike phobia.” She’s had it ever since she fell off her mom’s vintage Schwinn Airdyne when she was two. She literally has PTSD. Would you make fun of a veteran for having night terrors? No? Because it’s literally the same thing. Probably worse. https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/05/i-own-a-peloton-bike-and-im-better-than-you/ 1

Randomguy Posted December 7, 2019 Share #100 Posted December 7, 2019 I would still be happy to have gotten a peloton or similar for Christmas, if the gift was coming from the right place. Something like "You are well-marbled and full of unhealthy heft, and I want you to live longer" is reasonable, even if unpleasant to hear despite the truthfulness of it. "Get to work, fatty, I want to bang the guy you used to be instead of the tubbo you have become" is also fine, just on the frankness of it all. I do have a question about Peloton and the effectiveness of the ad, though. How much did the ad raise awareness of the product for you? I have not really been keeping up with indoor bikes so much, so I did get a much better idea of what they were selling and what the products did. I would be happy having one, but this brings up another question. Wouldn't I be just as happy with a big-ass tv so I could watch movies instead of some small screen with spin instructors?
