maddmaxx ★ Posted March 23 Share #7 Posted March 23 Yes but. I grew up eating lima beans and corn that we picked on the farm. I've always like them. I no longer eat them because they are one of the very fat vegetables, worse than corn or peas.

maddmaxx ★ Posted March 23 Share #11 Posted March 23 I just looked them up and discovered that I have been wrong for many years. Lima beans do not contain an unhealthy amount of fat. Now I can eat them again. Another myth someone convinced me was real. 2

Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted March 23 Popular Post Share #16 Posted March 23 Yellow Creek Inn the closest restaurant to my house has Lima beans as a side dish. groupw Posted March 23 Share #22 Posted March 23 Nope. We grew lots of bean varieties. Lima was my least favorite. Didn’t care for the texture.
Kirby Posted March 23 Share #23 Posted March 23 Nope, but my Dad really enjoyed them. We'd have a little bowl of lima beans at every big dinner especially for him. So I have a soft spot for them, even if I don't want to eat them.

It has been many decades since I have seen a lima bean, I couldn't even tell you what they taste like now. That said, I don't think parents of our generation did themselves or us any favors with how they prepared or introduced foods to us. Some of the things I hated when young are things I would readily eat now. I vaguely remember the corn, tiny cubed carrots, lima bean, onions and such, boiled all to hell, and it is no wonder most people hate them. To be totally fair, though, I rejected most vegetables as a child, I wasn't so receptive of things not commonly made. I am way more accepting now, and would be glad to try them again.
