Digital_photog ★ Posted December 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2020 Get your mind out of the gutter. This is a serious post. I've been milling with the Norwood PortaMill which can handle 2 foot diameter logs. Larger I have to use the Alaskan mill. Now for some fun. Who wants to identify this wood that I milled? I'll give you this clue. I have Black Walnut, Maple, Ash, Cherry, Hackberry, White Pine, Mulberry, and Eastern Red Cedar here to mill so which one is it? Give it your best guess. First one to get it right will win a hand carved wooden teaspoon.

Digital_photog ★ Posted December 10, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted December 10, 2020 Everyone who is interested get your guess in. Answer and winner will be revealed tomorrow evening. If you think someone else already guessed the correct answer say it anyway. Will be fun to see how many know hard wood. Let's make this more fun. To encourage multiple answers that may be the same. If there is more than one correct answer the first correct one will get a spoon as listed above. I will put all other correct names in the hat and draw our a winner of another spoon. So you will have 2 chances to win.
dinneR ★ Posted December 10, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 10, 2020 This is more x-rated than anything @Randomguy has ever posted. It's not morning wood, so I'll guess hackberry.

You are more impatient than a kid on Christmas eve. Don't you know that there are (very hard to believe, I know) some people who don't spend 100% of their time just watching for new posts on this forum? Maybe they don't deserve a chance at this but I feel the Christmas spirit and they are getting it anyway. It's my game I get to make the rules. 1

Randomguy Posted December 10, 2020 Share #23 Posted December 10, 2020 In high school shop class (why was it called 'shop'?) we had a wood loft. Myself and a couple of guys would go up into it and find small boards of cracked pine that were useless for anything because the cracks were so big. One of us would hold it and another would karate chop it. Breaking inch-thick boards looked impressive, but it was easy because of the cracks. Anyway some dumb but strong kid came up in the loft and saw what we were doing and wanted to try. We said "Sure, but you can't just start with thick wood like this, you have to start small". We grabbed a quarter-inch thick non-cracked piece of pine for him to start on. Ouch.

Zephyr Posted December 10, 2020 Share #26 Posted December 10, 2020 Seeing as the contest is the first one to guess it and every option has been picked, I am banking on it being a trick question and going to say dead wood. 12string Posted December 10, 2020 Share #43 Posted December 10, 2020 rats. I thought this was going to be about - yeah, you all know what I thought this was going to be about, ya bunch o' pervs! I don't think Black Walnut comes in that size, so it must be somethings else. I don't see any Ash holes. Cherry is - stop it you perverts!. Hackberry is what the dog does with the cranberries that hit the floor. Mulberry is a bush so - OK, degenerates, enough! You live out west, so Eastern Red Cedar is out. Maybe - oh, never mind, now I'm bored

Digital_photog ★ Posted December 11, 2020 Author Share #50 Posted December 11, 2020 Only one more day to enter and win a spoon. If you think your educated... or uneducated guess is wrong now it the time to make a new one. Only your last one will count. I do know who will win one of the spoons. Winners will be announced tomorrow morning. Viagra will not help you win a hard wood spoon. 1
