MickinMD ★ Posted December 11, 2019 Share #12 Posted December 11, 2019 My 2013 Honda Fit, which I've had for almost 7 years, is by far the best car I've ever owned in terms of fitting my needs, fun to drive, and good gas mileage. I waited until all my final retire income source kicked in, Social Security, before buying a car at the beginning of 2013. I spent about 5 years going to car shows, doing online and dealer showroom research, carrying a tape measure with me, showing different colored models to friends and relatives online, etc. before finally selecting the 2013 Honda Fit as the car I wanted, which won Consumer Reports award for best-band-for-the-buck car for the 4th year in a row. The long waiting and wishing for a new car to replace my 1997 Ford Taurus is probably why I ended with a good match for what I needed. Without question, it would not be the best car for everyone, but it "fit" me extremely well and I'm still extremely pleased with the 7 year-old car. I can pop-off the quick-release front wheel on my bike and, using the "Magic Rear Seat," I can stand the horizontal seat straight up, to give me a foot and half space from door to door to stand my bike straight up behind the front seat. I can haul 2 x 4s, cabinets, living room chairs, etc. completely inside with the back hatch closed. Because of clever placement of the gas tank, etc. the cargo space behind the front seats is 57.3 cu.in, in the same ballpark as the 68-73 cu. in. mich larger Ford Edge or Honda CRV. Most cars that size have about 11 cu.ft. behind the rear seats. The 2013 Honda Fit has 23 cu.ft which allows for storing tools in plastic bins, loading groceries, etc. The windows are so extensive it almost feels like you're outside the car. Consumer Reports called it one of the most fun to drive cars and that's been my experience.
Longjohn ★ Posted December 11, 2019 Share #13 Posted December 11, 2019 I like my cars, not as much as I liked the Element but the Pilot is better for pulling a trailer. The Van is pretty sweet too. I like that I haven’t had any car payments for years.
Allen ★ Posted December 11, 2019 Share #14 Posted December 11, 2019 Cars, I like what I have, a four door Acura. I don’t even know the model, doesn’t matter. It’s reliable, it’s comfortable, it has cool toys (lane keep, fancy cruise control). What I want is a truck.

Page Turner Posted December 11, 2019 Share #17 Posted December 11, 2019 ...still driving the 2011 LEAF we bought new. It's been a very good car for us. The range is starting to drop some because of battery decline in the colder months, but the colder months are not all that cold here. Did you start this thread to get some advice on buying a BMW, from @Square Wheels ? Or are you more looking for reviews on the used Chevy Cabriolet you can afford ? Longjohn ★ Posted December 11, 2019 Share #23 Posted December 11, 2019 I had to drive into Hermitage to get drugs for my wife on Monday. They must have been giving away free puppies or something, I have never seen so much traffic in there before.
Tizeye Posted December 11, 2019 Share #24 Posted December 11, 2019 While I like my Mini, performance and go cart handling, it does have its shortcomings the biggest of which is the bulbous design of the key fob that doesn't recess and protect the buttons. I can be sitting at my desk typing this and with leg movement pressing the fob against something in the pocket, lower all 4 windows, raise the rear hatch, lock/unlock car etc.

groupw Posted December 11, 2019 Share #30 Posted December 11, 2019 We just got the CX-5, but so far, it is doing just what we wanted. The Miata? We just love that little thing! Need to replace the top and do some cosmetic work on the interior. Otherwise, it is perfect for its purpose. My pickup is 20 years old and needs a little TLC on the front suspension. For no more than I drive it, I can't justify the expense of replacing it and in my opinion, it's better looking than any pickups out there now. I could see a Honda Ridgeline in the future. They did some very creative storage features in it. Unfortunately the fuel mileage is no improvement over my Dakota and they are still pretty spendy for how I would use it.
