Kirby Posted April 8, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2021 When I was growing up we always had a small glass of orange juice for breakfast. The juice was usually made from concentrate because we had a small refrigerator, but my parents always had juice with breakfast. But now people focus on the sugar in juice and the overall sales of orange juice have decreased. So what about you? Do you drink orange juice in the morning? 1
Razors Edge ★ Posted April 8, 2021 Share #2 Posted April 8, 2021 Rarely, sure. Regularly? Not in decades. That stuff is not very good for you. Want vitamin C from oranges, eat an orange.
Road Runner Posted April 8, 2021 Share #3 Posted April 8, 2021 I drink this almost everyday. For the lower sugar and the calcium.
BuffJim Posted April 8, 2021 Share #4 Posted April 8, 2021 Not very often. My morning beverage is low sodium V-8 with hot sauce - along with copious amounts of coffee. I often have a couple small Oranges after lunch.
ChrisL Posted April 8, 2021 Share #5 Posted April 8, 2021 Yeah we drink it regularly. Not ideal for me as a diabetic so I’ll usually cut it with unflavored fizzy water.

jsharr ★ Posted April 8, 2021 Share #8 Posted April 8, 2021 I was sad to learn that much of the flavor and smell is lost during the concentration process and is added back in when the concentrate is mixed with water.... https://agresearchmag.ars.usda.gov/2004/sep/juice

Randomguy Posted April 8, 2021 Share #12 Posted April 8, 2021 That little citrus juicer really rocks as a special treat! Nothing is as good as fresh squeezed, and RO loves squeezing oranges.

Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted April 8, 2021 Share #14 Posted April 8, 2021 Rarely followed by never. I liked it as a kid, but not as an adult. It’s a sugar bomb for your gut. I get vitamin C from other foods I eat, like peppers. I eat oranges and grapefruit but not much of a juice drinker. Smoothies are suspect too. I’ll drink smoothies when I have no teeth.

ChrisL Posted April 8, 2021 Share #18 Posted April 8, 2021 Speaking of oranges... season is about petered out... They are getting more expensive & quality is dropping. It’s getting into that time of year where winter fruits are done but summer fruits aren’t in season yet. The blossoms on our backyard trees smell heavenly right now too.
Scrapr ★ Posted April 8, 2021 Share #19 Posted April 8, 2021 Everyday...mostly. I use it to mix a maintenence powder drug I take every day. Once in a while I'm away from the house & have to use water. then I have to choke it down

MickinMD ★ Posted April 9, 2021 Share #27 Posted April 9, 2021 That was the joke Charlie told Jake on Two and Half Men that generated a frown from Jake's teacher but Jake and his classmates didn't get: Why did the blonde stare at the can of orange juice? Because it said "concentrate."

Tizeye Posted April 9, 2021 Share #30 Posted April 9, 2021 Do I live in Florida? Having grown up in grove country, not only did I drink it...but freshly picked and peeled Fast forward to today, I drink a small glass every day. Never concentrate based juice! Prefer pulp in it rather than pulpless. Among the "Not from Concentrate" the least favorite is the Simply Orange. Minute Made and Florida Natural are OK as well as many of the house brands. I really like Aldi's which is also the least expensive. Also Costco's gallon is hit or miss. It has the most natural fresh squeezed taste but quality control is an issue. If you get one rotten orange in the batch it taints the entire batch, and they seem to have a problem with that that others don't.

The only calories I do drink is that glass of fizzy water & OJ a couple of times a week. I actually limit all non fruit carbs from my diet as I know there is no way I can avoid fruit. I severely limit bread, pasta, rice potato & such as I know I’m gonna eat an apple for lunch, an Orange after dinner, some berries when I get home from work & that OJ. shootingstar Posted April 9, 2021 Share #36 Posted April 9, 2021 In lieu of any sports drink or energy drink, orange juice works for me on a long hot, bike ride. I have orange juice maybe 2-3 times / month. I will have it at hotels for breakfast.
