shootingstar Posted November 27, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 27, 2022 I might have heard my father discussing with mother about buying their lst car. It was a darkish burnt orange Gran Torino. They bought it following year. Running around in an all asphalt school playground, playing softball. I loved it and so did the rest of the girls. I went to the oldest public school in the city. Place didn't have grass for us to play. Girls played in 1 end while the boys were physically on a different end of the school.

I loved beating the Yamahas. Maikos were fast but they wouldn’t stay running. Same for Ossa, Montessas, and Bultaco. The Husqvarnas gave me the biggest challenge but there were not many of them around. In 1973 Yamaha came out with the rear mono shock and that was a game changer. I got married in 1975 and stopped racing. I traded a 1973 Suzuki Cyclone 400cc for a 1950 Plymouth panel truck with a 383 engine in it. My wife and I would go camping in it.
